About a year ago, I posted some screenshots of a western game that I was tinkering around with in isometric perspective. Foomer commented and said isometric graphics are easily made by using a 3d modeling program. I shrugged it off, because I really didnt wanna try it. NOW, I do, and I need a tutorial of some sort. I used google, and found some, but, not quite what i expected. If anyone has any experience in this area, or know of a good source of information, please let me know.

Ive come to a decision I cant make on my own. It has to do with walls. When you walk into a room, would you prefer there to be transparent walls (so you can see inside) or, like the picture, have a busted look to them? Or any other ideas you guys can come up with would be appreciated.
The other day I was thinking about all this hooplah that the site change has brought. And I remember at one point someone saying, or giving an example of "wanting their money back". So I went to the Terms of Service and took a gander at it, this is what I found for those of you who "want your money back"....

3. MODIFICATIONS TO SERVICE, LIABILITY, AND WARRANTIES
The BYOND Staff reserves the right to modify or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. You agree that BYOND will not be held liable for any modification or discontinuance of the Service.

You also agree that BYOND will not be held liable for any damages of any kind resulting from your use of the Service.

The Service is provided on an "as is" basis. BYOND expressly disclaims all warranties of any kind, whether express or implied.

Although I believe this would include the current site change, I would like to know if any of you think this does or doesn't. And if so, could this count as a "here is a tissue, now STFU" kinda thing.

*NOTE* this was copied and pasted from the BYOND MEMBERS Terms of service, as in if you paid for it, you agreed to this. I dunno if non-members have a ToS.

I dunno how many know of this nifty little tool. And to tell you the truth, I dunno how many of you could use it.

Its basically an overworld mapping tool with at least 3000 free tiles you could use. Even if you dont have a need for an overworld map, maybe you could use it to help come up with an idea for your world layout.

http://www.rpgobjects.com/index.php?c=tiamat

I think its pretty nifty.

Edit: you have to pay for the maps you want to export for your own personal use, and I dont know how much it costs, either way, it may be worth it. who knows.

I dunno how many of you know about the wayback machine. someone a long time ago posted about it. I visited again yesterday and thought I would show some of the newer community of BYOND what it looked like back when I made my first key.

http://web.archive.org/web/20010720011758/http:// www.byond.com/

BYOND has come a long way, although I do miss those colors, they seem easier on the eyes.... to me at least.

EDIT: you can explore the old page and stuff. Who still has a blue book, I found mine the other day.

life has slowed down for a bit, got done with school for good last semester (fire academy and EMT Basic) just need to pass the national registry to get my certification and i can find a new job. anyway, i see BYOND has changed a bit.

as for that project i was working on (if anyone cares, go through my previous posts to see some screenshots), my daughter accidentally spilled a coke on my lap top, yay. oh well ill just save the data if i can and go from there.

also if anyone reads this and is interested, I googled "isometric graphics tool" today and this popped up:

http://www.yoyogames.com/games/122983

it creates basic Isometric graphics without all the hassle of drawing the lines and such. just stack the blocks and create this and that. i thought it would be a useful tool for someone.
