Just a little post discussing some stuff I've been working on. I tend to post few and far between around here, huh?

Right now, I'm revamping the UI. Here's how we're looking so far.

Working on the changes to inventory right now. Those include:

-Equipment pieces no longer stack. You can sell items you have equipped should you pick up another one, rather than just disappearing from the inventory.

-Items have stack sizes, varying for each item. Default and most common will be 20. When you reach the stack limit or pick up an item with a higher count than the stack limit, a new stack will be created.

-Inventory has a beginning limit of 24 slots. You will be able to expand this to at least 30. This is to give more purpose to the bank, reduce savefile sizes from large inventories, and promote the use of the auction house that will be introduced. In addition, materials harvested, items bought, and quest rewards will automatically go into your bank if your bag is full.

-Right click functions have been rewritten. There is no longer any drop down menu for items. Instead, right click will equip, unequip, or use an item.

-Double clicking an item now drops the item.

-Tooltips have been added. When you hover over an item in your inventory, on your status screen, when buying/selling items, or at the bank, a tooltip will appear on your screen showing information about that item. Moving the mouse off the item makes it disappear as well as clicking on the map. You can disable tooltips in the game menu.

All graphical stuff is subject to change, but the UI will likely continue as is.
if you dont mind me asking where are those trees from i've seen them countless times and would like to use them.
This guy's using art from the RPG Maker tileset, which is too commonly used and typically makes you look very desperate if you use it.

Why is it necessary to warn the GMs of your game that they shouldn't abuse their powers? I mean, unless you're just handing out GM powers left and right that just seems silly. Aside from that, though, it looks somewhat promising.

The use of RPG Maker icons does not typically make anything look desperate. If anything it brings a professional quality to games that most on BYOND lack. And since finding a good pixel artist is very hard to come by, I would rather he us RPG Maker tiles then crappy stick figures and half-assed icons that would make his game look like a 5 year old colored it in.
Sure, it makes your game seem professional, but only to those who don't know where the art comes from. Not to mention BYOND doesn't "feature" games that uses assets that aren't theirs.
i was just about to ask was this legal too.
It makes the game look professional regardless of whether you know where they came from or not. the icons don't lose their quality based on your knowledge of how they were acquired. And a game doesn't have to be featured to be good. Being featured doesn't do much for a game besides advertise it a little more than normal. If it is a good game (Which it is) it shouldn't matter if it is featured or not. People will still play it. And when it was up and running they did play it. RPG maker icons and all.

I've said this time and time again: the RPG Maker sprite are placeholders until I can get a dedicated spriter who's actually halfway decent. My new job will hopefully make it so I can actually pay some decent people. I said the same thing the LAST time I posted too.

This post wasn't about the damn turf sprites, it's about the new UI so can we change it back to the correct subject please?

And for the record the GM message thing is really old, from back when I first started. I'm just so used to seeing it I forgot to remove it.
Well on the topic of UI, I think it looks pretty great. =] I have always loved playing TES and so I look forward to the updates. =]
