Road burn hurts. I was just doing 30-40 Mph on my bike down a hill, when my front tire caved in which caused me fly onto the cement. I seem to have hurt my left wrist which is causing me to type with one hand, and my left elbow part of my arm is ripped up. My shoulder is ripped up as well, as well as my shirt and back. My head was bleeding a bit, and my foot is all swollen. OUCCCCCCHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!


How long will it take to heal? :'(

Yeah thats no fun.. When i was younger i was going down hill/street doing about 30 or 40 myself i fell and rolled for quite a distance, its quite painful :S

Hope you recover soon.

Har har, luckily you're speaking to the number one rated doctor on BYOND, Dr. Manerk!! *dun dun dunnnnn*.. Thats right, I took Dr. Mario and booted his arse into that jar and covered him with those wierd looking viruses..

Anyways, I would say, if you want your wounds to heal rapidly, fill a kiddy-sized pool with salt and roll around in it until a slight burning sensation occurs.. and then roll around in it for about 10 more minutes..

Then stick your head in a gas powered oven and bake thrououghly until cripsy.. mmm.. chicken nuggets..

Oops a bit off topic there.. anyways, then take Hot Ice, rub it all over your head and face, and disconnect your phone so you cant call the FDA on me ^^

I know how you feel... Sort of. I doubt I was going 30-40 mph, but I quit biking for the exact reason I'm pretty much scarred for life from an accident I had in 7th grade...

I was riding semi-fast and I decided to try something dumb and try to do a start with a weelie + bunnihop around a corner + land in a weelie. Well, when I made it around the corner, the 90 degree angle of the jump screwed me up and I ended up flying off the front of my bike about 10 feet. I was VERY lucky however, that was the only day I had bothered to wear a helmet: I landed straight on my head, but since my helmet was there, it slid up and made me get road rash on my nose and chin instead of breaking my head... Some local little girls came to help me up and stuff, but I didn't know really what had happened. When I got home I was horrified to find out those small pains in my arm were really the skin completely torn off of the area around my elbow, and the pains in my leg, yet another large gash in my leg (I had gotten lots of these as a wee lad)... I was just thankful I had a helmet on, because I would have been dead or seriously injured if I hadn't because I looked at my helmet and my helmet was pretty much cracked in half, and it was NOT a weak helmet either.

However, I did manage to crack my haid open (sorta) after my elbow healed. I slipped on some ice and basically slipping on it flung my head into the ground, and straight into some sharp, pointy rocks encrusted into the cement. That time I scratched my skull a little bit.

For both of those accidents, I didn't see a medical professional once :P I just used some very crappy bandaging stuff, and for my head, nothing, and not there is still a bad looking scar around my elbow... It looks blackish!

You know what else hurts? About a month ago I was playing with a trebuchet (French version of a catapult [I knew the French would caus some sort of personal problem for me], uses counterweights) and the arm (2x4) came up and nailed me in the face. Keep in mind that this particular board weighed 90 lbs. I fractured my skull, and if I would have been hit anywhere else in the face, I'd be dead.

That really depends on how well your recovery genes work.

As for me, I am a pretty fast healer, whereas some people will have terrible healing genes and could take weeks to heal the slightest cuts and such, whereas mine could take a couple of hours to a few days tops.

As for my accident when I broke my wrist, gashed my head and almost broke my back... Then you could really say "ouch...".

What happened was goes as follows; I was travelling the normal route home from a natural bike ride as I used to go out a lot riding mountain bikes through the dirt tracks near to where I live, on the way home I was going downhill, as I used to do, but this particular day I had a bad feeling about going down the hill I used to have to go down... I was going over 50Mph downhill because it is rather steep and long... As the turf was leveling I hit a brick and was flung straight up into the air, my front tire went under the back tire, and as I tried to straighten the bicycle, I hit the ground hard, hit with my head first, gashed it above my eye... Only a slight scare now, but bleed like hell. Then came where my arms and chest smashed into the ground, I broke my right wrist at this point, I only thought it was dislocated when I saw it though... Then as my chest was grinding on the ground my back arched, not the way you normally arch your back when you bend down though, as my bicycle forced it to arch with the speed I was going. At this point I was in a lot of agony...

As I eventually stopped traveling along the ground I managed to grasp the energy to pick myself up, I looked at my wrist and saw that it was out of place, thought it was dislocated though, so I wrang the hospital and got told to wait while an ambulance came for me.

As I waited the pain grew larger and larger, and it became unbearable as the ambulance pulled up, they sedated me, but me being very resiliant to drugs and medicine it didn't work.

As I was taken to hospital in the ambulance I needed an oxygen mask because I started to hyperventilate.

As I was in hospital, I had to have my arm stretched by a doctor to snap my arm out of place even more so they could work on it. Then, I was given a dosage of anaesthetic. That didn't work to their likings, as it did not effect me. So, they had to give me another shot, what stumped them was that it never effected me either.

So they was gob-smacked when they was forced to use another shot on me. After the third shot, it took around 7 minutes to knock me out, and they said it was strange that a 17 year old, now 18, was so resiliant towards the anaesthetic. They told me that 2 shots would knock a fully grown male elephant out cold.

I was pretty happy with the fact that I am so resiliant, but in a way, it is a bad thing for me yet, a good thing :P

It took me 6 weeks for my arm to get better, as any other person, but, it only took me just over a week to fully get the usage of my arm and wrist as I used to use it.

Anyway, enough of my experience, it has gone on long enough hehe...

These incidents have absolutely no bearing to what my friend had once gone through..

She was 5 years old, now 18. She was playing outside near her cousins house near Hamilton just on a service road. Nobody knows why she went out onto the road but when a truck driver came to their door sobbing they knew the worst had happened.

The 5 year old girl was plowed over by an 18 wheeler.

She was in a coma for more than a few months, alot of skin grafts were done to repair parts of her face but they did very well.

To this day she still suffers from some head trauma and still has violent seizures which will continue for the rest of her life.

So when you all talk about slamming your head against pavement at 30-50 mph, try imagining having your head hit a gravel road from standing in less than 2 seconds full force from a mack truck grill.

If a 5 year old can survive it, anyone can.

My intention was not to make this topic to have people try to undergrad my accident, and compare me to people they know / themselves. It was merely informing them that I was in an accident. I could go on and tell the story about how my grandpa had a bleeding alsir(spelling?), almost died, and was in the hospital for 2 years. He didn’t step outside for 2 years! He underwent constant surgeries, and has a 14” scar across his stomach.

It's not always kids...

A few months ago, a block away from my house, a light rail train was stopped picking up passengers on the corner, and a 50 year old man decided to save some time getting across the street. He jumped on the linkage between the two trains so he could jump to the other side...but the moment he jumped up, the train started moving.

He fell under the train.

They found his organs spread over the next two blocks.
