I keep telling myself I am going to continue Shipwrecked, but it seems that I shouldn't waste my time on it, if no one would play it.. And I just wanted to know, what kind of games does BYOND need? I am wanting to make a game that people will actually enjoy playing, and not waste my time on something that will not be noticed. Please post your comments.

Why not just make the little mermaid?

BYOND really needs RPGs...

Or board games...

A while back, before the first session of HRH, I started something that was planned to be a player-controlled RPG, but it had to do with insects. That one is on my list, I may continue that, because people are more likely to play that, than Shipwrecked.

Why not make a game where you can create your own super hero or super villian and go on missions and form HQ's in Falarix City!

Oh wait.... nevermind

Finished ones.

Actually, it lacks a lot of types of games. Real time strategies, for one. RPGs are kinda of abundance. Everybody is producing them. There aren't too many multiplayer arcade/action games. Text based games. Card games. Meh, that's all I can think of.
There is ONE thing ive been hoping to see forever.
BYOND needs a multiplayer first-person shooter. I know this is possible, but must be very difficult. Hell If I know anyone that could pull this off I know it would be you. Even the worst FPS game on BYOND would be pretty damn popular. Give me a ring If you need any graphics help, IF you ever decide to do this. Anyway if you dont I might sooner or later, probably after I finish up my current projects.

Fun ones. Not saying it's void of them, just short on supply.

RPGs are very abundant, but I think if someone managed to actually finish an original RPG of some quality and replay value, it could be a smash.

I prefer to call them "Poorly Coded Mindless Slaughter Powerleveling Games", or PCMSPGs.
I am thinking about making a game like Red Alert/Command and Conquer, but with primitives. Perhaps a game like a mix between Red Alert and The Sims, with cavemen.. Have to find or make your cave, craft weapons and tools, you can expand your family, hunt dinos.. What do you think?

A long time ago I was going to make an RPG. Not the kind where you go around trying to be the strongest.. One where you must roleplay for mostly everything.. Perhaps maybe even RP fighting. I think alot of people would come in and say "How do I kill stufz?", so I decided not to continue with it..

Actually, I think what BYOND lacks is text MUDs. I don't mean the tabletop-RPG variety, I mean classic text-based MUDs, the type you find at http://www.mudconnector.com. Honestly, BYOND was originally created to build these and yet, to date, there isn't a single one in existence that is readily playable.

I've started a forum for these, you may have noticed in a post a ways down in Babble. http://pub11.ezboard.com/bmuddesign is the address. It's intended to help people interested in building MUDs get started, but since there have not been any visitors yet, it's a bit hard. Really though, BYOND has awesome support for text MUDs, and it's a shame that it's underused. All you need to do is master the use of a custom parser (I hope to be providing my own in the Free Snippets section) and you're all set to go! Learn a bit about lists to get your procs to do what you want and you shouldn't have much trouble at all.

There's a thought, I should make a forum for people who know good places to find MUD resources, such as room descriptions and such. I'll go do that now.

You darn well better make Shipwrecked. That game would be really addictive if it weren't so buggy. =P

I think BYOND is in need of some original side scrolling platformers. Of course, I'm half way through Jak and Daxter for the second time around (Gaah the only good part about the ending was the 1/2 kiss) so maybe I'm just addicted to platformers. Oh yeah, it really needs some good RPG's. I think FPS might like Blaster Battles 2, cause it's click-combat, kinda like an FPS.

Eh? What was this??
