i've got a wierd hosting problem... all my router's ports are open and i recieve pager messages, but when i host a game no one can join. i've check some help files on the byond site but nothing helped me. my hub ping number is my routers number and not my ip, im not sure if thats a problem.
someone please help me out.
When you say all your router's ports are open, do you mean that you've set up port forwarding on all of the router's ports? Because that's not a great idea. =) You just need to have a few ports forwarded (five is plenty).

If you haven't set up port forwarding (or "Virtual Server" as it's sometimes called), then you need to. =)

im not sure what your talking about, sorry im kinda not-so-god at networks. i have a linksys router and when i check the status on it it says all my pagers are open (i know thats a bad thing...) but all in all i should be able to host a game on a open port, right? and what do you mean by forward, is that like opening a port? sorry to bother you!

I dont use a router, but I think it would mean forward the open ports(or allow access to them) to the connected computer.

Port forwarding is when you tell the router to forward all traffic from a certain port(s) to your computer. For example, my D-Link router is set to forward all traffic it receives on port 1029 to the computer I use for hosting; that way, I can host games on port 1029.

I'm not sure what your router means by "open port" (I'm not exactly a network guru myself, although I have some experience). It's probably not the same as port forwarding though.

Is there an option anywhere in your router's configuration to forward ports at all? I'm not sure what Linksys calls it (mine calls it "Virtual server", for some reason). That option should ask you for an IP address to forward to and a port number, if that helps in finding the option.

I need more details about your router (e.g.: model number) to find the manual on the internet... or you could just save me the trouble and look in it yourself. =) It should mention a feature to forward ports, somewhere in there. Unless of course your router is an old, nasty, cheap one and can't forward ports, in which case this thread is a complete waste of time for all involved! =P
