Well, I have noticed alot more people have been using them lately. Rather it is to gain an un fair advantage, crash a server, or just cause great lag on a server, I don't like it. They are able to send packets to the server and just take out the host's server with no problem. So I ask, why doesn't BYOND have some sort of protection of where if a WPE type program opens on your computer, byond.exe ends? I can name about 3 keys of people who use them to go around crashing random servers. So, would that be enough for BYOND bans?
They added protection a couple of versions back. The owner needs to include a check to make sure the players are using the most up to date version of BYOND.
Too extend on what Justin B said..

byond_version is the variable you need, and the version is 347 and up. So you need to do this:
client/New()
..()
if(src.byond_version>=347)
..()
else
del(src)

Feel free to correct me though, I may be wrong.
