So what do people think to the new xbox experience or so i believe that it's name. Anyways i actually like it the old dashboard was getting rather boring. But the new dashboard is rather nice. So opinions oh and also i prefer it the PS3's but i dont mind the consoles themselves.
The new dashboard is garbage. The mini blades menu is an improvement. The NXE Wii's are a cheap ripoff.

Wii's did not invent the mini avatars...

And that's like saying Halo copied off doom.

Sure similar style, but also different in many ways.

The Xbox 360 would not have NXE Mii's if Nintendo didn't already have them. They have absolutely no use.
In response to Xeonex
No, they are a blatant rip-off. Their style is the same except for very, very minor things to avoid lawsuits, I'm sure.
It's pretty freaking ugly. And the ten minute "intro" you get when you download it is ridiculous. I think Microsoft forgot that this isn't a) a movie, b) a game, or c) a life-changing experience.

Nonsense! If anything, Halo got much of its ideas from Half Life!
To be honest, I like the old style of the dash board, and will continue to use such. I have a simple penny arcade D20 avatar, and that is good enough for me.

Mentioning PS3, I think the Xbox 360 dash board is a much much better improvement then the PS3's dash.

I agree. The only reason Microsoft probably did this update was to keep up with the Wii and PS3. The redesigned GUI is also crap, I prefer the old version of that too. The save a game to your hard drive is pure crap, you still need the game in the console to play it, so that's just a complete waste of space. Yes in my opinion I prefered the old interface much better. But now I can't go back. :(

Yes you can, you can easily go back and fourth between old and new dashes.

People always hate change, until they get used to it. The BYOND site is a great example of that. I loved the old designs, but now I'm quite comfortable with the new design.

The blades didn't scale well, and left Microsoft in quite a pickle with increased features. I agree that they did the redesign to keep up with the Wii and PS3, but that's because they both had interfaces that could scale well. I'm sure that there are still people who claim that the GUI and mouse interface was the worst thing to ever happen to PCs.

I am so $&@#ing tired of this excuse.

We screwed up on something? Oh, it's the end users fault for not wanting to change. Stupid end users clinging to old things.
In response to SuperAntx
But they didn't screw something up. They changed it. BYOND surely didn't screw up the website with the change, but people hated it. I still have my problems with it, but I had problems with the old site layout.

People hate change. People tend to transfer emotions. People transfer to their hate of change to what has changed, despite what merits may be there. Give it 6 months and people will have forgot about the old XBox Blade System. Why? Because the new system works just fine.

If people hated change Obama wouldn't be president.

The new dashboard is garbage and saying people hate change is probably the only defense you could possibly come up for it.
In response to SuperAntx
Well, he isn't president. He won the election on the Hope/Change combo. Most people are willing to say they love change, except when it happens. If, as soon as Obama takes office, he replaces the American flag with a smiley face, people wouldn't like it. Arguably, the flag functions exactly the same, yet people would hate it.

But that is a totally different argument, really. The BYOND website is a prime example of people hating change. Then there is the facebook redesign. Oh, and the themes on Gmail. Vista, another great example. All these things got better with change, but people raised a big fuss when it happened. Some of the biggest arguments on the Internet is Gnome or KDE, but both have almost exactly the same functionality, but some things are in different places.

Danial.Beta, this isn't about BYOND or Facebook, it's about the new 360 dashboard. If the blades were really that bad they wouldn't have kept them for when you push the X button.

This new dashboard is just a marketing ploy with fluff features which serve no purpose besides adding to the 360's resume.
In response to Danial.Beta
I like the themes for Gmail, and I like BYOND's layout (the colors are another story, though). The NXE, though, is awful. And people hate Vista for good reason (like built-in DRM).
In response to SuperAntx
I don't have a 360, so I can't know exactly how the flow has changed, but as I've read, the blade system didn't scale at all, so they've changed the interface to be able to have more features without crowding the interface to the point where your main content has no room left.

And if they kept them in the exact same function what are you complaining about? If they are now handled different(for example, only for sub menus) then it is clear that the needed to make the change for future expansion.

Sure, Tom could have thrown more ads on the old layouts. He could have bootstrapped the new hub features. But that would have lead to a almost useless site. Yes, the XBox dash isn't the BYOND site, but it's all interface design. Maybe there are some issues with the new XBox interface, but it was JUST released. Give them some time to fix issues people are having.

But how is it horrible? Can you nolonger play video games? Did they remove features? Does it take longer to go through the menus? Is it slow and choppy? Is it buggy? Or do you just not like that it has changed?

Then you shouldn't have an opinion on the 360's dashboard.

Oh yes. Because you can only have opinions on things you own. So sayeth the manual of arguing!

Most baseless comment in this entire thread, that.
