** American Football **

Hello, I'm Ryan, some of you know me some of you don't.. big whoop. I'm posting here to day because I'm so lost in myself I can't even tell what my heart wants to do. I want to join my football team again. Then again I just don't know why I don't want to.

I would love it if some of you people would post on why or why not you don't like high school football. I mean I'm surely like it if you all would. I'll check back soon as I can every time and reply, so please give me your feedback.

If you really love football, it would be good to join that or at least compete with your friends often. High school coaches often do anything they can in order to win, if you know what I mean, so I'd say that's the only real downside to joining a high-school team.

Well, I just love football because to me, it is fun. I am 6'2 and 225lbs of muscle, all I do is play football (well, baseball and wrestling when football season is over) and I was recently on a high-school team that was horrible. We had the nicest football field I have ever seen, we even had pro field goals. But the thing was, we could not win a game and we had no sportsmanship whatsoever. That is one downside to some high-school football teams. Another downside is what Kunark mentioned...the high-school football coaches do not want us to have fun, they want us to win, win, win, that is all they want.

I was scouted at the end of last year when people started to hear about my size and how fast I was (I played O and D line, then when they saw my speed I became a running back). I was recruited to one of the top high-school football teams in the country (for it's divison, and it is one of the best divisions). We have won almost every single championship (won this year too). We won eight in a row, then lost one, and won three in a row. This team's sportsmanship was amazing, we all played like a family and it was great. That is what really gets me going in a football game (also the fact that you smash the crap out of people and get pumped).

If you are not all into football, then I recommened that you do not play. But if you love it, and just do not want to play because of the practices and conditioning, then you are not worth sending in to play (not an insult [nor is it directed towards you, pretty much directed towards everyone who feels this way]). Everyone hates practice, even the pros hate practice, but it is there for a reason. Practice does not make perfect, but perfect practice makes perfect. That is how it goes. Do not worry about practices and conditioning (if that is what you are worried about), just get out there and play for the love of the game. I can write pages and pages about this, but, I think this is long enough. I have a big passion for this game (as you can see) and if it takes me three paragraphs to get someone to join, then so be it. Good luck on your decision.
I love playing it. Not so much the two hour practices every day. But every football team has them, the only thing is longer practices with a harder workout the day after you win a game. Anybody able to figure that one out?
If you like it, do it. I personally think football is a waste of government money, and should be put into the school, rather than into an extra activity, but if a school is going to offer it, and you want to do it, do it.

forget football- join an Ultimate Frisbee team/club! you'll have more fun, you'll be more fit, the people are generally a more open-minded, more friendly group (internationally speaking), and you'll get injured less.

if there is not a team in your area (and i bet there is), then start one!
I played football in school; I had a blast. It's good fun and great exercise. It's something you can better yourself while bettering your game while having fun -- what's the problem?
Are we talking about run into each other football, or soccer football. For some reason or another they call rugby football and they barely use their feet.

True, but on a football team the coaches have to be harsh. They want you to be mean. Most people realize this and when they get insulted by a coach they laugh.

It's sort of a lamed down version of boot camp, but you do it because you love playing the game.

Ultimate frisbee is fun too though...

No no.

In the UK Football is the game where you kick a black and white ball through a net.

Soccer is the game where you have a quaterback throw around a weird shaped ball and get touchdowns.

Rugby is crazy and a modern day gauntlet.

Most certainly. The thing is, these coaches do not want you cheering about the game you won the day before, and get too over-confident. After we win a game, I completely forget about it the next day, and do not even want to think about it (unless it was the championship). The thing is, if you think too much about the game you won, and the next day after winning that game you have a short, easy practice, you will not be ready for the next practice nor will you be ready for the game (I know, you are injured and worn out the day after, but they cannot let you rest it off).

The players will also get too over-confident their next game and loose. Win a game, forget about it, goto practice the next day, act like the game never happened. That is what I do. If it was a big, hard-won game, then maybe the coaches will let you practice with no shoulder pads and just a helmet the next day (usually when the team is injured, very worn out, tired, ETC. [but only for a big game]).

Oh well I shouldn't say that much harder.

Longer stretches and longer time going over plays that happened last game.

But before games the o-line gets to play Fat Man Football. Basically everything is done in a slow walking pace with only helmets to make sure none of the hogs get hurt the day before.
I think you should join. Good exercise and plus the fact that you will remember it for the rest of your life if you actually love it. And you don't have to be big, you just have to have heart. Trust me, I'm 6'1" and 165. I think you should do it.

I used to play football, started on Defense, and some Offense. I love playing the game but, I quit do to favoritism. It's no longer fun when you're running your butt off for missing a few summer morning work outs because of work, and then see someone who missed all summer work outs and not even get yelled at.
Alright, thanks to everyone that replyed. I forgot about the post.. ^_-. I would of checked back sooner, but I made my mind up later that day. I decided to play. The only problem was that on Friday the head coach wasn't at school so I have to wait until Monday. It's been a boring weekend, but hopefully the coach will let me play. ^_^

P.S.: Go O-Line! <=p

Play because YOU want to.

If you miss your chance, you will never know how good/bad you would have done.
