Greetings to all of you BYOND Forum users. I would like to raise an issue. I am asking, have you heard of a Dragonball Z fan-game, that goes by the name of "Dragonball Z: Heroes Reborn" by a user named "Lord Gahid"?
Alot of you may have, some of you may have not. But my thread is about raising awareness of this game, poaching from my own.
I am aware that this post is long, but please do read, as this is an important subject to me and my team.
Now, I am most definatly not saying that my game is original, no. It is in fact a rip at heart. My game may have been added 2 years ago, but it is a very very young project, as I have been off BYOND for longer than a year. But now DBP is back in development, and has some amazing features to come.
At the end of 2008, I came back to BYOND. I came back to continue work on my game entitled Dragonball Burning Pride. My goal was to create a game that any player can log in too, and have a good time playing. Since then, my team and I have had it's ups and downs, and our game has been through a lot of changes. A major part of these changes, are the original icons that my team and I have created.
In the last few months, I have learned a great deal about the BYOND Dragonball Z community. There are alot of games, and alot of games that are the same. My own, and my teams goal was for DBP to not become one of these games. We wanted to be different, by changing and adding in brand new material created by us.
We wanted to be a new fresh face for BYOND Dragonball Z.
However, this became increasingly difficult. A few days after my return to BYOND, a BYOND user by the name of Dark Inc. had paged me. The page went something like this "hey it's your buddy, lord gahid. you coming back to work on your game?"
I was indeed, although when I was here last, I don't remember anyone by the name of Lord Gahid. I had heard of this user, but could not remember talking to them at all. I shrugged it off and Dark Inc. seemed like a pretty cool guy.
After me and my co-owner (Anunaki), had updated the game with our new base icons etc. etc, we had a few players here and there playing the game. Dark Inc. became increasingly adamant about making him a Moderator, or giving him hosting files so he could host for me. I kept declining, as I didn't need any moderators or a host at the time.
One morning I came onto my PC and had a few pages, one was from a user named Fight For Supremacy.
The page said "fix this error or i will spread your icons to all of byond [byond dm error]".
Unfortunatly, he was offline. So I began to ponder as to how he got my icons, as only me and Anunaki were the only people who possessed them.
I logged into a game entitled Dragonball Z Legends Reborn by Dark Inc. An apparantly official continuation of Ruben7's popular Dragonball Z fan-game. I logged into find an icon I had made of Yamcha, sitting there staring me in the face.
So, I had to raise the question. What was this icon doing in a game that was not my own? I asked Dark Inc. that question, and he said he would remove it when he arrived home.
He did eventually remove it. But before he did I had logged into a game entitled Dbz Worlds Strongest 2 by Lord Gahid.
Now this was a mouth dropper for me. Every single icon I had made, was in this game. I don't know how long for but that didnt matter. What mattered was, someone had used a third party program, to poach from DBP and claim icons as their own.
As previously said, Dark Inc. had claimed to be Lord Gahid. So assuming this was true, Dark Inc. had been the one to poach from DBP. I confronted Dark Inc. on this matter, and he went into a rant about how he is in fact not Lord Gahid, but Lord Gahid had been using his key. I did not believe this, and I still do not believe it to this day.
So my icons had been stolen and put in a game named Worlds Strongest 2. Great. Everything me and my team had made original had become the very thing we were trying to avoid. So I talked with my co-owner, and we decided to push through, and work even harder to make our game even better.
I have since then not allowed Dark Inc. to play my game, and he did not like that. He constantly paged me, my co-owner and one of my moderators as to why he was banned and also posted on our forums. He was told that our staff was not comfortable with him playing our game. Again, he did not like this.
This finally brings me to Dragonball Z Heroes Reborn by Lord Gahid. Being paranoid about Lord Gahid poaching from DBP, I logged in.
I found not our icons, but one of our login screens created by Kazuo (Z33r0) and the buttons that Kazuo had also made for our interface. I thought this was too much, icons, GFX and interfaces. I am aware that you can get the interface files from simply logging in games, but you cannot get the PNG files used on buttons by simply logging in, no. You need to hit that print screen button.
I was shocked. I typed into the OOC, "Why are the DBP login screen and buttons in this game?"
I was banned. And it wasn't the first time I had been banned from a game that featured art from DBP.
I thank you all for reading this far, I apologize for the long post, but I feel that the community needs to be aware of these users and there games.
