I think it would be neat if the developers working on BYOND (Lummox Jr./Tom/Dan?) would publish (and periodically update) a ranked list of features (and fixes) that are in work, or are kind of on their to do list.

That way everyone could see about how soon a feature is to be implemented, if it is even on the list at all and that there's lots of work done on the BYOND software.

I came up with this idea, as I stumbled over the comment in Lummox Jr's DMIFont library documentation that text on the map is supposed to be implemented on BYOND 4.x in a native way and wondered if it's onl the list, or if the idea got discarded.

If there is already such a list, shame on me, but I couldn't find it.

Thank you in advance for considering.

[1] Fix bugs
[2] Fix more bugs
[3] Fix bugs that come from fixing previous bugs
[4] Implement a feature
[5] Fix new bugs
[6 through xx] Repeat 1-5
[xx + 1] Publish a to-do list

This list comes with the benefit of not needing to be updated.

I'm not sure if that list would be a good idea or a bad one to be honest with you. The list would be long enough to be potentially demoralizing, yet being able to see that X was in progress would be fairly interesting.

I'd at least like to have a Never Ever Stop Asking list for the suggestions that have come down the pike a million times already and are completely impossible. Of course, knowing the types of people who ask, if they're incapable of using the forum search they're also incapable of checking that list.

At the time that was on the drawing board as a potential feature for BYOND 4.0, yes. Two caveats: 1) At the time Dan was still developing, and 2) the feature never did have a finalized design that everyone could agree on. However, this isn't off the list as such; Tom is very interested, as am I, in opening up drawing in a bigger way, and this would be a fairly large project.

Why not post it on BYOND Labs, you know, one of the forgotten children of BYOND? :)

Oh, sorry, mea culpa, no offense intended though.

Demoralizing for you two working on BYOND or for the people seeing their desired feature that "low" on the list, or both?
Since I'd have imagined you would have such a list internally at least, in order to prevent chaos.

And well, better to know the feature is on the list and has to wait for a long time, than not to know when and if it's going to be done at all, isn't it?

Hehe, I wante to suggest that as well, but didn't dare to *chuckles*

Anyway, thank you for the information and considering.
