I'm working on a new project entitled Murder Most Beautiful (the "Infinitely replayable murder mystery strategy/action game"). I just wanted to tantalize the community, and make people think...

What do you think about a game with no stat panels? No shout command? Even better, what do you think about a game with no verbs whatsoever?

I'm trying to make an interface where objects interact with each other by dragging one on top of the other, using much of what Dan and Tom have put into the very latest BYOND betas. So far, things are going great! The unveiling comes soon. I'll be looking for serious beta testers.
if you cannot talk, and its supposed to be multiplayer, you got problems already.
I like it. And I'm sure you can think of some way to allow people to talk without a verb! Actually, if you were using the browser, that opens some odd possibilities. But a game where you click to interact with everything sounds neat.

Not having a verb panel doesn't mean you don't have verbs...even better, you can use a macro to have "say" always be the text-line command, and all other commands happen elsewhere.

That is true. But he did ask, "Even better, what do you think about a game with no verbs whatsoever?"

When did I say you couldn't talk?

Verb in this sense meaning the typical BYOND verb... you type the verb followed by its arguments, or you click on a verb panel.

Deadron has got this mostly right. I might at some point find the need for commands to be input other than say, but so far, I'm trying to avoid it.

As far as shout is concerned, It's probably going to be right out for those actually engaged in a game, but people waiting for the next round to start will be able to chat just fine.
Sounds a bit like one of my older games, Operation Xero, in which there were no verbs and everything interacted through clicking. I would love to beta test any game that you make, jusging from MLAAS's precedent! Later, all.

I think I'm very intrigued!
So, thats what that was called :)

Sorry for leaving that time Sky, my cpu froze and it went straight to hell and back. Well, its back now :)
I would love to test that game soon again! It was stuck in my mind the whole time my cpu was down for count. I was thinking about it over, and over, and over. It was the last thing that was on my screen! Once again, I would love to test it.
