The letter "Y" makes a "yuh" sound, thus, it is in my opinion impossible for it to be "buh aye ond" try phonics:

"buh yuh ond" then shorten it "buyond", then shorten it again: "byond". There is no way it is pronounced with an "i" sound. It completely defies the way the letters interact.

That doesn't make the least bit of sense, from a phonetic standpoint or any other. Never would the Y simply break out to pronounce itself as its own syllable, particularly with a B hanging out there without anything to go with it.

Anyway this foray into "wha...?" is moot. The pronunciation is a settled question. It's "beyond".

So I suppose "standby" is prounounced about the same as a Texan would say "Stan W." (stan-duh-buh-yuh)?
Well it looks like Beyond, and it's meant to be spelled like Beyond, so I'd figure you pronounce it "Beyond."

Definatly be-yond, in the past the phrase "The great BYOND" has been used by Dantom, so apprently they agree =P.

I think I'm the only person who says Bond, as in James Bond.. :-(

*sobs in the corner*
It's pronounced "dung", but only by the cognoscenti. For the masses, the pronunciation is "beyond". :)

It's a pun of "Beyond".

"Welcome to the great B/be yond!"

How could it be anything different?
*Cough*DUNG*Cough*
I pronounce it as "Cheese." But that is just me.
