On the 19th I will be blacking out off the Internet.... As a protest to both SOPA and PIPA... I am trying to decide for how long (probably 2 or 3 weeks)... so when you don't see me... Don't be surprised and or scared... And to all my fans, I should have an Update for Both Rotting Aftermath and Silent Hill Online by the time I return...
I suggest that this be on the front page so that more people will join me in my protest
What is SPA?
I think he hates Hot tubs Empirez.
It's SOPA, not SPA.
I think that what you're doing is absolutely great. By your not being on the internet, it will really show the masses how SOPA will censor the internet as a whole and limit the information that we are able to see and... oh wait, no it won't. It'll just mean we don't have to put up with your dumb ass for 2-3 weeks. Carry on sir.

Actually, you're wrong. If you read the post, you would realize that he is clearly protesting SPA, not SOPA. SPA is an entirely different issue and I request that you please get your facts straight before commenting. Thank you and good day.
.< Whatever Mikau... Your just being a Douche
Sometimes I go offline that long too. Without even realizing it!

But then again I am pretty old. I remember the world still being an alright place before I had 24 hour internet access.

Also, why are you protesting SOPA (sorry, SPA) and PIPA? Because Google told you to? Do you think it will destroy the internets? Or do you just like to pirate software from sites hosted in other countries?

...

Im not protesting because some other website told me too... I do romhacks and whatnot so do you see my plight? also Its just another way for the government to give control to Big Business...

Think about it like this... Byond has Anime games made by various users... if sopa and pipa pass, then Funimation or whomever can just shut Byond down... With help from the Judicial system of course...

And besides... I think I originally posted this on FB about an hour or 2 before Google and countless others did their protest...
So you admit to protesting this based on the piracy angle.

Well let me know if you ever create something that's worth stealing so that I can come take it. I assume you're ok with that right?

After knowingly allowing developers who were obviously infringing on IP to sell subscriptions for so many years, Tom is damn lucky that BYOND didn't already get shut down. The fact that IP infringing games are still there stands as sort of a casual dismissal of that threat.

Honestly BYOND sort of would get what it deserves.
It truly does not deserve such a horrible fate... Its helped too many people cope with the problems of life...

Any company who is being infringed upon, who wanted Byond shut down could certainly do it right now anyway. Not like Byond has a crack Legal team waiting in the wings.

SOPA/PIPA just means that said companies wouldn't even have to make their case in front of a judge to get websites taken down. It's literally subverting the democratic process that this country is founded upon. It's even worse when you realise the portions of the bill that affect DNS servers will affect internet users from other countries.

I think my old ex-coworker who now works in security said it best: "The MPAA/RIAA have sued people for piracy who haven't even owned computers or an internet connections. Giving these morons more power is fundamentally wrong."

Edit And before I'm accused of being some communist torrent-fiend, if I got caught downloading movies/music illegally even once, I'd have a much harder time getting into a job in my career field. I don't think I've intentionally downloaded anything illegal for half a decade.
