So, work on Murder Mansion continues full bore (well, compared to the last few months of getting nothing accomplished, even the smallest bit of progress looks like I'm racing along...lol), and I was just running a few test rounds, and ended up with the following screenshot to share:

That's me, standing in the rain, in a flash of lightning, next to the pool, with my latest victims resting at the bottom (now that I think about it, I guess they should be floating... oh well, though... I also suppose the blood should have turned the water red, instead of leaving well-defined splatters on the bottom, but oh well again) The shovel I used to kill them was dropped when I slipped on some muddy footprints and/or blood splatters on the deck, and can be seen nearby...

The funny thing about this shot is that both of these men took more than one hit to take down, and both had tried to run away from me, only to fall into the pool, where I finished them off...

Oh yeah, how do you like my snazzy new duds?

Each map will have its own clothing (formalwear in the Mansion, hiking/camping clothes on the Campgrounds map, hospital gowns on the Hospital map, etc.), and the overlays will be colored to match the room you've chosen for that round... You'll notice that the poor fellow closest to me in this shot was my roommate...lol

The AI is still not quite fully functioning, but I'm working on that next...

I'm still developing in 3.5, so the game doesn't yet have any of the 4.0 glitz (speaking of which: holy crap, it's going to look great with transparent darkness effects instead of dithers), but after I get this coming version knocked out, I'm going to move the game into 4.0 for a subsequent update (leaving both available so the few 3.5 holdouts can still enjoy it... Of course, by then, maybe everyone will have already accepted 4.0)

Anyways, back to work!
Sexy.
Nice. Any chance of setting it up so it can be hosted on a remote server? (i.e. no active host)
Actually, yeah, I believe the coming versions will run without an active host...

I changed it around so that the first player to click the "Join Game" logo on the title screen is handed the responsibilities of selecting settings (map, game mode, etc.) and is handed the round control HUD button...

So there shouldn't be any more need for the host to be around to do all of that work...

It also opens up the possibility to have "unlockable" content for BYOND Members (and perhaps subscribers, if I ever decide to implement subscriptions), if they're the ones who take control of the round... For instance, if a Member starts the round, he/she might get some extra maps to choose from, and then all other players can benefit (a la Last Robo standing)
Don't forget to make the rain transparent as well when you go 4.0! >_> <_< Translucent splattered blood when dragging a body and opaque crimsom blood at the scene of the murder, yum!

Yay! When the Kool Boiz Klub was very much so active, this was rather annoying, since 3.5++ had just come out, and the host couldn't use 3.5++ to play, but we couldn't use a remote server, so someone had to sacrifice 3.5++ to host.

:O. That sounds great. Although, I do wonder if that might take away from the name of the game, unless all of the maps are just different styles of mansions with different items available, and different outsides.
Looks great, do weapons vary from maps too? And if you get the chance, you should really add alcohol and relative influences.
And the ability to SPIKE drinks. :D

Seriously though, committing murder has to be potentially more subtle. There should be ways to set up traps and such.

Yup! I'll run through all of the graphics and see what can be improved with the new tools...

Nope, each map is actually what it sounds like... I thought a bit about the conflict with the name, but I decided I didn't mind...lol

In fact, here's a post I made on the MM forum detailing the Hospital Map and here's one about the Campgrounds map...

Yup, each map will have its own flavor of weapons (with a few shared items, of course, because some weapons can be found almost anywhere)... For instance, the Campgrounds contains things like archery sets, oars, machetes (of course!), etc. and the Hospital contains scalpels, surigical scissors, drills, etc.

As for alcohol, it's not a priority, but I might get around to it eventually... I still have that proc you wrote up for me (at least I think it was you) that parsed speech and replaced characters to make it come out slurred...lol

I agree, but I haven't yet gotten to it... Thus far, everything available is the same ol' bloody, messy, grisly weaponry...

Though, there is now a way to push people, which can be used to shove them off of balconies, through windows, etc...
I'm glad items vary, it'd be weird picking up a wrench or shovel inside a hospital ward.

Yeah I wrote that library but I was thinking more of impairing movement and vision more than speech, making it harder to elude a killer when you imbibe too much.

I do like Elation's idea of spiking drinks, especially since thirst is such a big part. If poisoning was a big part then nobody that played often would accept drinks, lol.

Also, chloroform was a big part in murder movies, I feel that needs to be in there someday.
I think the psycho or maybe even any player should be able to attempt to kick open a door. (which should provide a loud sound too) ... maybe some of the furniture can be moved around to barricade the door in case some mad man starts trying to kick the door down, giving you enough time to climb out the window. I haven't played in a while(never can find a game) so I can't remember if you could climb out of of a window, but I think I remember you can fall out of one and hurt yourself... lol.

I think this is a bad idea. I mean, think about it. The person killing everyone is supposed to be a psycho. He is supposed to massacre people. You didn't see Jason in Friday the 13th spiking drinks, did you? No, he chopped them in half.

The only way I can see something like this work is if you do this on the hospital map. What I mean is, a hospital has syringes and a lot of different types of drugs. So you can have your choice of drugs, put it in the syringe, and inject it into someone. The effects could either kill them, make them dizzy, pass out, etc. the possibilities are endless.

You can spike drinks if you want, but it has to be on certain maps. Not the camp grounds though. Why would a rufy be laying around a campground? (Okay, I know what some of you are going to say, but be logical here). Hospitals should be the only place where you can spike someone, but with a syringe, or possibly drinks too since you can dump the drugs in a drink.

The hospital should have hundreds of different types of drugs (okay, maybe not hundreds, but the more the merrier) to make it more fun. You could even mix drugs to make different effects. Now that would be fun. =D

Oh, and by poisoning his guests/hospital patients/campfire mates he is not a psycho? The spookiest kind of psychos is one that kill silently and with no evidence!

Yeeee \o\ keep the good work!
Lookin' good SSGX! Any mention of this game always reminds me of the time Xooxer played it at my house for hours (which was the first time I had seen it played), and the amusement I'd get watching him either slaughter someone or get slaughtered by someone. Good times.
I can't wait until it's release. Murder Mansion is a load of fun!
