It might help advertise, it apparently effects Google searches. It's also part of Google+, who doesn't love Google and it's +? http://www.google.com/+1/button/
I'd also appreciate a Google+ button. However, a general share option which opens a list of social sites (as can be found on a YouTube video) would be my overall strategy. =)
