Does anyone know where to get a decent gif editer. I checked out download.com but they all want $35 for the software. In other words I want a free one because I am too cheap to pay :)
the windows paint program is probibly the best for basic gifs without breaking the law, if you buy anything for your computer, they normaly come with one. I have like 50 art programs on my computer, i only use 1(Paint Shop Pro).

Ive had so many paint programs and web design programs that were...uh,lets just say less than legal, its not even funny. I dont have anything illegal at the moment though.

Im the same way, i would really be screwed if i had to pay for all the stuff i have on my computer, not to say i have any of it on my computer now **shift eyes**.
This is a decent program for making animated GIFs. It's a free 30-day trial, or something like that.

Little hint on those free day-timed trials...set your system calender back before the trial expires and you can use it whenever you want.

MS Paint is a joke; speak not of it with anything less than total derision.

Paint Shop Pro is a good choice for working with .gif images, however.

Got to love Paint Shop pro, maybe one day i will pay the 30 or 40 bucks for it so i can have it legaly and help out the makers(about the only program on the web worth buying)

I don't use any of the newer versions of it, which I understand are Photoshopesque, although I have a new version on my laptop and should probably check it out. I just keep installing an old copy of 4.1, which doesn't time out on me. It has some flaws but it's otherwise fine.
