I'm proud to announce that my "hiatus/laziness"from pixel art is indeed coming to an end.for the past two weeks or so I've been pouring hours into sprites for Twilight Herald.

In that time span i've manage to complete and polish the base's walk cycle:


An 8 direction base;my first attempt actually and I'm rather pleased with the results.

*Currently undergoing a little polishing.


Also within this time ive managed to complete a single south attack animation:



As you can see,we really intend on producing a professional(or darn near close to it) looking game.



Some eye candy:
Knight(Spearman) with a few cave tiles.

Base with a few overlays showcasing the Mage class.

Base with a few overlays showcasing the Archer class.


I'll spend the next few weeks working on the base.Hope for a next preview in two weeks time.Maybe I'll have one of those cataclysmic skills that Latoma promised awhile back to show off he he.

Not to nit pick but the legs look a little awkward compared to the torso, but keep in mind im no pixel artist.
.. Ah holy crap, this is better than i expected.

Good job so far!, though the walking state does looks a bit off-ish.

But i love the hair in the wind effect lol, and the armor and mage and archer..

It truly looks good.

Intentional or not, the base's seem to have an anime feel about them, which i really like as well.
The arms look really short on the diag walk. Also, I'd make the cliff bigger too. The base looks like a giant in the enviroment. Good job none the less.
A consistent game with these graphics would step up BYOND's art standards thats for sure.

Well Zane specialized in Anime. And to be honest, I find it's style fits the original feel of the "Twilight Herald" Mythos, seeing as it's roots came from my like of all sorts of anime.

My obsession with a "realistic Feel" comes from wanting buildings to be to-scale and stuff. Some things obviously can't be, or won't be perfectly realistic. Magic works in F'ed up ways. Requiring F'ed up Designs. See said staff in the Mage.

So overall the feel doesn't bug me.

@Guardsmen: I won't exactly disagree, but hey, not everything can go well.

I do see what you mean about the arms look a little short though, hum.



Overall I'm sorry it took us so long to get something visual out. Mind you, that water near the top isn't anywhere near done, I am so gonna nag Zane to make that look natural.

Nice. I admire your base and the overlays are magnificent. Very good, I would love to play this game one day.

But you have one flaw in this project...
Make the cliffs bigger like @National Guardsmen said. It doesn't fit with the base other than that your fine. :)

Yeah i'm glad Zane's working on this, i do love his work and i'm a huge anime fan anyway so it does fit :P

I presume the cliffs are made to be stackable for numerous heights? So i think this could have just been a quick mock up for us to get to see something and are likely to have all types of cliff sizes :)?
I can understand the Cliffs lol. And the arms... Zane's not perfect! (YET!)

And happy to know Mato, I'll await you in the first public beta test when at least one Laramosian (Chapt 1) continent is completed. :D


Edit: Teka's about right. We wanted to make it so it's like lego, and this IS purely a mockup. The final will probably look a huge degree different

. . . Zane, are you going to keep doing this? Are you going to keep hyping the byond community up, then quit the project because it got boring, or some other excuse?

Because I'm tired of it, and I'm ready to play one of your games, and I keep getting delayed because of you quitting the project.

Thats all great and good but will the game play as well as it looks.

This is what ive been waiting for. I would love to be a beta tester if you still need some people.
Ive never really quit any projects ive worked on.i released a naruto game,BR was canceled due to the face that anime in itself bores me that combined with the whole possibility that it may be issued a C&D.

As Chris said Bleach Revolution is being turned into an original game...
