Hey guys, been a while since I've shown up, got a little side tracked :), As usual i'm still plodding along with art related things, improving? very slowly.

I've started having a go at traditional pencil drawings- something i've never really done before not since school anyway lol.

Naked dude - currently drawing..

Well i'm gonna keep working on my naked guy.. who will gain some clothes soon, this was purely for anatomy sake hence the manequin-ish body.
Try bringing the face down a bit. Your faces don't have any foreheads. Your jawline goes up extremely high, leaving the ears way too high on the face. Typically, the horizontal lines formed by the top and bottom of the ear line up slightly above the eyebrow and somewhere in the bottom half of the nose, respectively.

Your arms are decent, but try thinking about the muscles as coming FROM the torso rather than going TO it. The shoulder should be on top of the torso (Referring to the strange armpit shape here), and also it should layer above the bicep.

Thanks albro :) Very true, i only "now" notice my last 2 guys clearly do not have foreheads and the eyes and ears would be a lot better lower down.

And i think i see, i kind of draw the arms a little bit like they are a separate body part than the torso, so the positioning and connection don't really look very fluid?

A tip I've heard is to start with something like Loomis before sticking to an anime style. Mastering basic human anatomy will improve your more stylistic drawings whereas learning the basics by only drawing anime characters will leave you with odd proportions, a whole lot of same face, and other negative traits which will take a long time to shake.
wheres your guidelines ? use some guidelines it'll improve your drawings 10fold... you should also practice drawing facial and body features separately in different styles whole pages of eyes lol my sketchbook is full of them.
Thanks guys, well i just sit down and draw, I've never tried to copy anything or study, i was pretty bad at school and don't have a good attention span so I've always drawn because i enjoy drawing.

I just want to improve and develop a fun style if i can, of course i watch a lot of anime so i guess in my head that's just what it tends to lead to.

@Ant: That Loomis pdf seems pretty cool, i guess I'll try copying some of those drawings for a while to see if i can get those proportions fixed into my head :)

@Southend: I have drawn a few eyes, i have a page with about 10 different eyes, but there's loads of space and i know that's not enough to feel confident so i'll keep at it longer, and do pages consisting of different body parts and positions, instead of jumping onto the next image in my head.
