It's one of my favourite Shakespeare quotes.

You and I, and everything else, have a name. If anything is discovered, or invented, perhaps even before that, it is given a name. Perhaps the name itself is art. I think so.
What would you call a nameless person?

Humans have always depended on tools in order to survive. I wonder when we began to call it a spear? Just how long did it take to develop this language? And there's a lot of languages, which I find strange. I wish I knew why there's more than just one.
If name is an art, then each person must have different tastes. When is a name ugly, and when is it pretty? And just who decides what gender they belong to?

I know I've bombarded you with questions. You hate me. You just want to take my head and... hit it? But there's one more question I really want to hear your answer to.
What's your favourite name?

I don't hate you. I suspect there's only really one person I truly hate, in my entire life. Hate is a very strong word.

My favorite name is Mallorie. Every Mallorie I've met has made my life that much better, and it flows quite smoothly.

Liara and Mallorie are both sweet names. I've never heard of any person named 'you', but that might just be me. Could you be referring to the word itself?

However, were we to rename the rose to rottencrab, after enough time had passed that the original name had long been forgotten, people would probably find the smell of the rose to be less than plesant.

Human minds are fun.

And there's a lot of languages, which I find strange. I wish I knew why there's more than just one.

Communication was developed before we invented tools to travel across different terains. Can't communicate with someone if you can't get to them first.

What's your favourite name?

As a massive anime geek, I'd be inclined to say "Sakura". Ignoring the many character references, it really does sound cool, but cute at the same time.

Ignoring the geek portion for a while, I've always found the name "Lisa" (strangely, the name of an ex-girlfriend) to be quite plesant. "Erin" (not strangely, not the name of an ex-girlfriend) is also rather plesant on the ears and tongue.

Interesting. Had I been a girl, my name would have been Lisa. As well, prior to being told that (earlier this year actually), I had always wished, should I have a daughter, her name be Lisa.

I wouldn't know what to call a nameless person.

My personal philosophy on name is the existence of definition by the creator(s). Why does something need defined anyways? We need to associate it, so we aren't confused. We need to realize that it exists one way or another, and that in order to function, things must be defined so that our overly-curious minds are fulfilled. I believe curiosity is the more dominate reason, followed by structural order. Some of us, just need to know everything and want everything in it's "place."

But really, a rock in English is rock. What about another language? What about to another person? Does every one of us have the exact meaning for a rock? Some say a large pebble, others say a hard stone. Why the difference?

Nothing can be finitely defined. Do not sloppily read "defined" as in a definition or description. I'm talking literally defined, like how you could define a variable.

I don't see names as an art. Just really a cultural, societal, governmental, and whateveral way of quenching our thirst of curiosity.

I have a few favorite names, actually, but those are somewhat classified.

My name is Robert. I don't enjoy it, but it's my name. It makes me who I am.

My favorite name for a girl is Ashley. I have never really known any Ashleys, but I've always really liked the name for whatever reason.

Well if the Japanese are to be believed, you'd call a nameless person "Nanashi", which literally means nameless. But, by applying No-Name to someone, you still identify their existence, thus the point of a name. So, if you truly wished for someone to have no name, you would have to deny they even exist.

Speech is believed to have developed between 50 and 20 thousand years ago. At the latest, it would have been developed by at least 17 thousand years ago, where the oldest ruins of human civilization have been dated to. There are many languages because there were many isolated groups of early humans, and two separate species of early humans. And then, out of the base languages that developed, you had fragmentation of various factions, which them went on to make their own words for things that the other factions didn't have names for at the time of the split. So what you get are different languages with a common base. These languages modified off of the base then encountered other languages, and through wars and integration of population, they combined their languages, resulting in even further diversification from the base languages. Take Latin for example. It fragmented after the fall of the Roman Empire, and then the various barbarian countries incorporated it into their languages, thus giving birth to English, French, German and Spanish.

And no, I don't want to hit your head. I'm happy to answer your questions.

My favorite name is a tie between Arawn and Kimi. Arawn is a unisex Welsh name that means "Lord of the Otherworld". It was the name of a death god in their mythology, and eventually was adopted as a normal name. Kimi is a female Japanese name that means "She who is Without Equal". The famous name Kimiko is derived from Kimi.

@Kagi Omiya: Labels aren't names. They're close but they aren't the same thing. A classification is a label, a designation is a name. If someone hasn't got a name, you give them a classification (... or you give them a name. After all, names are things other people give you.)
