They do neglect to mention the basic paradigm of learning through trial and error or the game as it's own tutorial. You're right of course, Ms. 146. The player does need immediate and obvious feedback in order to recognize the desired pattern of play (or, as you call it, 'mshkj'). They managed to expand on that very idea in episode 3, tho, so don't give up on them.
