Currently I have finished drawing all of the hair styles, faces, bodies and some of the features for the characters, as well as finalized the character creation process.

I figured if I get this going in the right direction, and build it from front to back instead of different sections all over the place, I might enjoy my progress a little more since I get to see it as I go. I also changed the name "Sayn" to "Sapyn", I know it doesn't seem like a huge difference but I figured it'd be safer to make them sound like "Sapien" rather than "Saiyan" since I went with the monkey-like barbaric look.

After the features (the dwarf's beards for example) I will finally get down to drawing the clothing and then work on the spells and combat. Good news is that from Christmas Eve till January 2nd I get paid time off from work due to plant shutdown, and my betrothed doesn't :). This means that at the rate I'm going, it's very likely I can get this to a playable state by the middle of that week. For some reason it's alot easier to progress with this game in pixel art and originality than it was trying to make a pretty Dragonball Z game... Probably because I know what I want and I can do what I want and get away with it this way, when I was limited and had a thousand ideas on how to do multiple things the other. Either way that's my goal, unless I hit some sort of snag you should see me hosting it sometime that week.

I also wanted to cover PvP a bit since I forgot to do it last post...
PVP
. . . . . .
I've decided instead of having player-run guilds, the game will focus around two preset guilds: "The Hand of Destiny" and "The Shield of Avalon". These are two player-based guilds managed by reputation, for the story they are both somewhat on the good side although their definitions of good waiver. "The Hand of Destiny" is more of an empire-type guild, where they focus on rule, law and claiming whatever they wish in the name of their clan in order to defeat their threats.

"The Shield of Avalon" on the other hand is more of a druid guild. They war on the ideals of total freedom and protection of the lands and all living things, rather than just the mortal races. Both guilds are opposing "The Cult of the Damned", which is purely NPC and run by Necrolord Ravyn (The main threat of the game thus far) and his possession of 'The Book of the Damned'.

Within both guilds players raise ranks based on reputation, which can be gathered by completing tasks, slaying opposition, and combating for resources. At level 20 players have the option to enlist in a guild or remain mercenary. Any time afterward you can join a guild but once you do so it's permanent for that player, mercenaries don't get as many tasks and awards as a guilded player, but at the same time they have no risk of being attacked by players of an opposing guild nor can they fight for resources or get resource bonuses. When you become guilded you are flagged for PvP and cannot unflag, so do so at your own risk.

When guilded however you can participate in the battles for resources which give buffs to the beholder, these battles all take place at different times, twice every 12 hours and those resources + bonuses are...
The Mines +5% gold looted.
The Farmlands +5% increased stats.
The Armory +5% damage done.
The Mage Towers +5% experience gained.

Each area will be uniquely setup for combat, and each will require different objectives to win the battle depending on whether you're defending or attacking. After the battle, NPCs will stand guard and the banners will change to represent your guild.

I'll post more on that and combat in the future but for now I leave you with an updated screenie of the character creation.

Each race has 5 hair colors, most are unique to their race although Humans and Dwarves share 4 of the same. All hairstyles are also unique to the race as well as features. Dwarves will be the only race not allowed to be beardless. There are two skin shades and two faces per race as well, although the Vampyr class has edits of both (red eye color and paler skin). I also added a randomize button which will generate different a combination and random name.

Edit: Also note that no race has access to all 7 classes to fit their lore better.

<3 Ken :)
You might want to darken the Human color and/or lighten the Sapyn color. They look too similar. It's not a big deal, just something that bugged me.
Silly question, but are you a fan of the Twilight Saga?
the names in this game make me go :S but everything else is wonderful

sapyn? uurc? elesmasia? vampyr (instead of vampire)? :S
don't tell me all the names of elven people/places are rife with apostrophes and silent letters and stuff
Woah. o.o

.....No just no. If you mix match a darker shaded body with lighter shaded hair, you ruin it
Example, a BYOND RE game mixing with the shades of Cow RP, so imagine a brighter shade of grass mixed with a gloomy looking building.......

I didn't really plan on that name theme for elves personally, but what's wrong with Elesmasia? I thought that was a wonderful name for a main continent in a fantasy world... If it has been used elsewhere then my bad. Like everything else I have my inspirations. Vampyr (Vam-peer) is technically a vampire, but retaining their souls and the ability to walk in the light because of it, my lore has them defined that way. They still have their needs for survival and power such as blood etc... They have their own story in my world.

Elves, Dwarves and Humans are my essentials for any dark-aged fantasy story and thus will be present, although defined uniquely to fit into my world. Uurcs may not be my name creation (I really didn't look it up I just liked the sound of it) but are essentially my creation as far as I know, they're basically ancestors of the elves with more demonic attributes due to their love of darkness. Sapyns are visibly a tribute to Dragon ball (I never denied it) but are inspired heavily by two savage and powerful groups of people in history. They will not reflect the saiyan race much more than appearance.

To Smoosh: I liked the last 2 books, hated the first 2. I Audiobooked all 4 as a deal with my fiance, if I were to read them she would play World of Warcraft. Not bad stories once you get past the obsessive nonsensical romance.

And as far as the colors go, I believe you were referring to the race selections. Those will be graphically changed once I decide to draw a few faces for them, currently the color scheme stands out.
it's not that the names are unoriginal or uninspired, but that they're... awkward. :P if world of warcraft was called "the wurlde of glimisparstispaticus" i imagine it wouldn't be as popular. or at the very least, people would be even less prone to talk about it IRL
Well that's understandable. To me these names bring inspiration and power to their design.

When I get into writing a game, I almost feel like I'm writing a book. I outline where it takes place, who are vital to the story, how I wish it to begin and flow to the end. The only thing I leave out is the room for you, the protagonist of the story, to grow as you wish following this tale.
