My attempt at editing an eye(into a more fantasy-ish one).

You used GIMP to create that?

Yes.
Compared to what I can do, your work is amazing.

I'm happy with the outcome on this particular attempt aswell. I'm far from amazing, and at the brink of intermediate(says someone from a certain GIMP community). Practice, practice, practice. :)
Honestly, it could use some work. The iris looks like it was just pasted on without any further editing. You could touch it up a bit more, it doesn't look like it's part of the eye. You can also get rid of the bit that's overlapping the eyelid.

Take a look at this eye: http://fc05.deviantart.net/fs26/f/2008/136/e/4/ Eye_of_goddess_by_wercy0010.jpg

See how the image looks rounded and matches the curves of the eyeball, rather than a flat image pasted over the iris? That's the kind of effect you need to go for.
It looks weird, but then again I'm not sure what you were going for. It looks poorly done to me though because you could've cut the top of the circle off instead of having it overlap the eyelid.
thats easy =|
Cool good job

I wanted it to overlap the eye lid. Both for emphasis, and, an aura of some sort.

Very. Just different effect layers on the background image. Just used 2 gradients, and different layer effects as well as distorts.
