I'm curious as to just how advantageous a 27 inch monitor would be. It'd certainly make playing games and watching television a very easy thing to do (whether or not it's too big to use as a standard computer monitor, leaves something to be desired though).

I imagine coupled with the right chair, the need to leave ones desk would only come about through eating, sleeping and going to work. And living at a computer desk would be mighty nice.

Anyway, anyone think a monitor that's larger than the television in my bedroom would be a worthwhile adventure? (Bare in mind, it would be coupled with two non-HD 22" LCD monitors.) It's actually quite conflicting.

Oh yes, for anyone interested. Successfully quit smoking, and am slowly coming down from my crazy mind altering drugs. No more wild mood swings, depression, vivid, colourful and whacked out dreams, inability to focus, loss of appetite and change of taste. Man that ride gets more wild every time you take it.

Whether or not I won the bet is up to discussion. Brother who's taking the much longer patch rout has to be off them. If he falls out and goes back to smoking, I win. Otherwise, he wins.
You could probably buy two ~21 in for that price, and you'd then have 42 inches. That sounds more worth it to me <.<

I already have two. Buying another two would be a waste of time and effort, as it'd leave me needing a fifth.
Great Job on Quitting.
Good job quitting, you're going to find that you have a lot more money all of a sudden.

I went from an unemployed smoker to an employed smoker to an employed non-smoker. I've been finding I have a lot more money all of a sudden for a while now. ;)
If it were me, I'd buy a stereographic monitor. They're about as much as a reasonably high quality monitor, and offer a really unique gaming experience for any compatible game. Granted, it's still a bit of a niche thing.
I'm using a 32in Samsung LCD I love it. I'd have to say go for, go even bigger if you have the cash. I watch a lot of pirated movies and tv series, Hulu, and so forth I don't really even watch cable anymore. I'm not a computer gamer so I can't really say much about it gaming wise.
Congrats on quitting smoking.

You need to copy my setup though... lol.
I use a 43" Vizio LCD 1080p HDTV as monitor. ($450 @ Wal-Mart)
La-Z-Boy Recliner for a chair. (Free from neighbors moving out)
Wireless keyboard w/ built in touch pad. ($50 at any tech store)
You need to invest in a half-decent graphics card though so everything isn't completely stretched on the TV. I have a pretty cheap $120 graphics card and everything looks beautiful on the TV.
I'd go for reliability. ;)

Gratz for quitting smoking. =)

If I copy you, how can I brag about being better?

I don't think I want an actual television for a monitor. They tend to be just that little more bulky than a computer screen.

La-Z-Boy Recliner for a chair. (Free from neighbors moving out)

Pass. I want a proper desk chair with wheels. A recliner would be comfortable, granted, but irritating as hell to get in and out of in my little corner. And too low to the ground.

Wireless keyboard w/ built in touch pad. ($50 at any tech store)

Paying top-dollar for that already. See right side of the page, above Shoutbox.

Yeah but, I've never had a screen die on me. So I can take the ignorant route in thinking all screens are reliable. The delusion isn't broken for me! Don't take it away! =(

Eh ~ (<- hand moving from side to side), not that big of a deal really. Drugs I was taking really work. Just the side effects are difficult to control. The added paranoia on top of my already incredibly paranoid self didn't help much.

You might as well started smoking bud to stop smoking cigarettes then. It can help out with the negative effects of smoking too. :)

Not as readily available. And family would murder me.
Congrats on quitting, Tib.

Here's a question though, exactly where do you invest in a graphics card and are games like Mass Effect 2 and Star Trek Online compatible with laptops as well or just desktops?

You're the computer wiz, so I figured you could help me out. >:0

Local stores that sell them?

and are games like Mass Effect 2 and Star Trek Online compatible with laptops as well or just desktops?

If the specs of your laptop are >= the specs of the game, you can play it.

Not really all that good with hardware.

Oh, so pot cures cancer now, eh?

Lol! Those pro-pot websites apparently don't have a maximum bullshit threshold to the articles they'll circulate.

Actually there have been numerous studies to this effect. It is given to cancer and AIDS patience to help with their appetite, nausea, and pain along with a wide variety of other diseases. With several studies showing that an active ingredient in marijuana prevents and even kills cell growth in cancerous cells.

If all else fails, Google it, or Wikipedia it. It's not just pot activist websites.

A friend of mine's mom had lung cancer from smoking cigarettes, the doctor said without treatment she would live six months. She starting smoking weed after this and continued smoking cigarettes. This was almost five years ago and she is still alive and never received any real medical treatment. The power of marijuana is real.
I use an HDMI cable to my laptop to my TV, it much better because then its 1080p and Also you have to leave the chair to go outside and have fresh air and play some football and stuff, also to get a drink and have a relationship. You sound like you have no life at all no offense.

Also your a snitch you got my post taken off front page you snitcher.

Snitch's are bitch.
