My games

Genesis, the Beginning

Alright, so I'm finally starting my blog here.  I'd better fill everyone in on what's going on...

Okay, so I've been programming and writing code since I was like, six years old.  To put that in perspective, I am now 25...so I was writing my first lines of code using QBasic on a DOS platform, or the input console on a Commodore Vic20, and I bet a bunch of you don't even know what a lot of those funny words meant.  I've taken multiple college courses on programming, including C, C++, Visual Basic, and others.  I first discovered BYOND several years ago.  I knew you could make your own game using some program included with it, but at the time I was more interested in the games that could be played with it.  Anyway, one of the first games I ever played on BYOND was Seika (kudos, Aaiko!).  I was very impressed by it, and thus were the seeds planted that an awesome game could truely be made using this software.

So speed ahead a few years, and I discover DragonBall Live 2.  Needle me what you will, but I'm a DragonBall fan.  However, like most of the real players & fans on BYOND, I hate all the stupid DBZ & Naruto rips out there, made some half-assed idiots that have no real experience in programming.  Anyway, DBL2 was different.  There was no 'stock' code...none of it was a rip.  What's more...it was good!  Here was a DBZ game, that was actually good!  I thoroughly enjoyed my time playing that game, despite the many bugs.  Over time, I realized that despite what a great game it was, the lack of support from the creator, Vizuke, was killing it.  In time, the server went down, and despite my efforts to support the game myself, it ultimately died (partly due to the remaining GMs stabbing me in the back).

Seeing first-hand the demise of DBL2 due to all the bugs and lack of developer support, yet the amazing success it had while alive, really prompted me to look harder at the possibility of creating a game myself.  I had had dreams of making my own game(s) since my first years of tinkering with code in QBasic.  With Seika, DBL2, and all the great RPGs of the ages as my muses of inpiration, I set out to learn the DreamMaker language and make my own legend in the world of BYOND.
