In short, wherever I browse in my browser (Firefox), you have the option to follow me in your own browser (only support Windows/FF/IE for now) or BYONDs embedded one. For this test, I will try to navigate randomly around in BYOND only.

This is just a basic prototype and will only be available for a short while.
I need a couple folks to try out the new FTL feature and see if it works or not. If you connect and try it, please comment on your experiences whether they are good or bad.
If there are problems, expect the server to come and go offline.
I am running one of the more recent public beta versions so you will need to install the latest to connect. Please leave a comment if that sucks so I know how many people tried and failed because of that. :| Sorry.

Funny enough, when I clicked that BYOND link it told me I needed to be running the latest and greatest dream seeker in order to play it... then I ran the BYOND pager and it did not detect any updates.

I pretty much got what I needed from this test run.
Launching browsers on remote machines won't work but the embedded browser works great. I think the FTL feature impresses most people who experience it. I think the general response is.. "Oh! Neat.". I'd like to raise the bar and go for "Oh Wow!'s" if I can. I think most people quickly make the leap to "OMG PORN!!!!!" and depending on who you are, it will be from the concerned, the childish, the malicious, or just the avid porn viewer. In all honesty, I could care less if people want to share porn (or other explicit material). Obviously, my problem is in protecting those who don't want to view porn. I also don't want to tarnish BYONDs reputation as a good community for kids either. I will solicit more input on this matter from BYOND and anyone else willing to discuss it. Anyway, there must be some other applications for this feature. I've got a small list of neat features but I'm still hunting for that WOW one. Now that the prototype has proved itself capable, I can dive back into the design spec and see what surfaces next. ts | |
I updated to 471.1076 and I just made an update that should allow you to optionally choose your default browser as the "follow" vehicle.
