Cathedral motivation died at the finish line because I got sick of going from computer to computer for play testing. I will get back to it eventually... especially because its stupid for me to stop when I am so close to being done. I also came up with so many fun ideas while developing Cathedral that I really gave it no chance. I have to figure out how NOT to think about other things while working on a project. It's like I need to take my creative portion of my brain out until I finish a project.

For the last week, I've been working on getting a C# application to communicate with a Byond hosted server. I needed this so I can have BYOND talk to a mid-tier application which will communicate with a DB. I had a bunch of help getting this to work and I'm really happy about the results. It's a number of hops but I think it will work well.

Now I can push a button in a byond hosted session and have it get data from a SQL Express 2008 db and display it as output.

The next step is to test and design UI controls that play around with the data in the DB. I'm hopeful about this process going smoothly and quickly. :|

While waiting all of last week to get unblocked, I spent some time investigating strategy games out on the web. So far, nothing but suckage... so I think there is room for my ideas so I'm excited by that and have been jotting down some new designs.

That's it for now. I'll have some more updates as I make progress on the new project.

For strategy games out on the web, I'm slightly addicted to Castlewars and Armor Wars.
Castlewars is a pretty neat and simple concept. I like it.

Thanks for the links.
