You need to get a little more information for us.
Try doing a bit of goggling and going to some websites to see if you can figure out what version of wine you are using, and what OS your using (complete name)

If you've never used Linux before, I don't suggest embarking on trying to get BYOND working under wine.
I would rather suggest booting into Windows when you want to play BYOND, or installing a virtual machine running Windows inside Linux - So that you can open a virtual machine and log onto BYOND, when you want. That way you can stay in Linux.
I was able to get byond to run, briefly and like 'garbage' for single logins. But I could not log into any games as the versions of byond that work in Wine are out of date. I went through some trouble shooting a while back, and it all centers around the key file. The file that stores the account name for login and I believe is used to designate what key is currently logged in. I went back to an old version of byond 3.x.x.x or some old version and was able to login without the key file error, but not able to launch a game since the client was out of date. What happens in the newer versions of byond is that (in ubuntu) it will create a byond directory in your home folder and not on wine C:\ drive. This continues to make problems every log in, and I had to revert to older versions of beyond, copy the key file update beyond, overwrite the key etc. for testing the functionality. Even if you are able to log in, you will not be able to launch a game, and if you have a version that can launch games, you wont be able to login. It centers around where the key file is stored by byond, which defaults to the home folder in recent versions and thus cannnot be properly accessed and written by a program in wine ( that wants it to write and read from the C:\ drive)
