Duel Monsters Unlimited

Not posted on my site for a long time! But just an update to say that my Duel Monsters game is over 2 years old and still going.

It's been through many transformations over that time, and is now living under the name 'Duel Monsters Unlimited'. Most recently its evolved to incorporate the newest addition to the Yu-Gi-Oh! franchize, 5Ds.

With over 4000 cards, it now includes the ability to 'Speed Duel'. While no actual driving is involved (sorry!) the game mechanic is fully implimented meaning you can duel with Speed Counters & Speed Spells just like in the anime. The HUD changes to offer you a simular designs to the screen seen on Yusei's D-Wheel. A fun alternative way to duel.

The game is forever changing and evolving meaning that if you stray from the game for a while, chances are you wont recognise it next time you join =)

Looking back at previous posts, i was pleased seeing a player count of 30-40 players per day. I'm happy to say that its not unusual to see over 120 players online these days.

Thanks for the support over the years!

DMA 'R' was Born

About a month or so ago.

DMA & DMAE vanished off the BYOND raidar and a new hub entry appeared. Duel Monsters Advanced R (DMAR will do).

A few 'hardcore' players were unhappy with the news that i would be merging the coding i worked on with DMAE, with DMA. And solving any problems content wise too to make the game a better place. So a lot of anger and sadness went hand in hand with the change. We lost custom cards, and we lost the large collection of Anime Cards that had built up over the years.

But we also gained. We now have a compete database of cards in a new format that are much easyer to see, and make the game more coloful. The ANIME cards are being re-created and re-ordered by season... making it easyer to find the cards your looking for.

A new map was created especially for the update, new options added, options to customize the way you duel (look of the cards, Duel Disk) the game is a lot more polished than DMA or DMAE were.

I must have done something right because the average player count on DMA was around 20-30 a day. In DMA 'R' it hits 50+ a day quite easily. Which has the benifit of meaning you are never waiting for a duel too long.

All in all i think the games turned out well, and its being updated still daily/weekly. Hopefully it should satisfy anyone looking for a Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG fix with no stringe attached (i.e. Dueling Fee's).

DMEv & DMA

Reports of my demise have been greatly exaggerated.

Let me share some points on both games.

Duel Monsters Evolution
Is now close to a public version for hosting. Meaning it will be on the hub normally for anyone to host at will (and out of beta). Currently the card database is catching up nicley with that of DMA. Tactical Evolution is now in DMEv fully, and ive introduced 3 'Anime Sets' which will house all the GX cards from Season 1 to 3. I plan on introducing sets for the original Anime also.

Duel Monsters Advanced
Seems to be holding its own. Custom Cards are being added (as per forum posts) and cards updated.

However, just because DMEv has taken away most of me attention does not mean ive handed the game over to someone else. As you know Devourer of Souls (from Duel Monsters Expert) offered to aid in support coding when the original coder became too busy. He is the "Head Coder" in DMA, and helps me with DMEv too - but those games are mostley complete so really its just about bug fixing and options tweaking. Something i still need assistance with when it gets more complicated. Though with working on DMEv i have needed him to add cards and sets too for a time.

Devourer of Souls also sorts out most of the games problems or choices. I'm not around as much recently so i needed some help - Im one person unfortunatly dispite popular belief it does take up lots of time to do games like this, even simple things like adding cards can take up a good few hours. Especially if you want them done right.

Anyway never fear, James Bond UnknownDuelist will return to DMA (and still run DMEv) shortly.

DMEv.... The Saga Continues....

You should all pay a visit to a new Dueling Game now on BYOND called "Duel Monsters Evolution" (DMEv for short).

Using the code from DMA, ive reiconed and redesigned the game. Changed the Ban List to Tradtional Format and added a new twist in the form of "Deck Points". Each Limited or Semi-Limited Card has a 'Cost'. You can add any cards to your deck you like up to the total max cost for a players Deck (2250).

The game features the same card database as DMA, except there are no "Custom" Cards being added. However ANIME cards are coming soon and will have more chance of being usable thanks to the Deck Points.

Right now it includes all English Cards and Japanese Cards. Rainbow Dragon has been added to kick off the new set "Tactical Evolution" and new cards are being added all the time.

New features to DMEv also include custom user selectable card backs featuring Yu-Gi-Oh! Characters and Monsters. The cards have all be reiconed and the ART is now 37% larger than previously, and uses the ENGLISH DUB style layout.

Remember this is not a replacement for DMA. This is a new game, like an add-on. If you enjoy playing DMA you should stop by DMEv for a taste of something a little different. Here is hoping that it turns out well! See you in the game...

DMA is 1 Year Old....

After many problems and lots of work in 2006, DMA had its first birthday.

Currently the game offers over 3000 cards, improved graphics over current BYOND dueling games, and the introduction of an exclusive new set - including a new theme of cards created by myself called "Hero Angels" which are based on 3 monsters each with its own purpose (one for defence, one for attack, one for backup). Combined they create a Fusion Monster known as “Hero Angel Trinity” which gains Special Abilities depending on the number of cards in your opponent's hand.

New player made cards are also being added, to make the set more community created. You can still submit cards to be added to the set. You should be careful to check through the requirements first however, and note that not every card posted will make it in. Good Luck!

The game is updated often, with new cards and new graphics and new features. With a bit of luck i will be making a simular post next year when DMA has its 2nd Birthday!
