Spent a few hours working on changing the parts to the shower with my dad a few days ago. It was slightly past due since the knobs kept screwing up not allowing you to turn the water completely on or off, the latter being more important, and since somehow the water from the shower was leaking out onto my stairway (Not even going to explain our funky house setup).

Anyway, the new shower head is lousy. It doesn't spray water, it drops water. Yet another reason why we should stop importing Chinese goods. They're more like bads if you ask me :)

Text Over the Map with BYOND 4.0

This post is in response to Mikau's recent post regarding displaying text over the map. In short Mikau failed and everyone there said you can't.

It is possible and I'm not quite sure what I did that Mikau didn't, since his method was nearly the same as what I did.

I built a webcomics website and had several authors lined up. One Author has produced one page of one comic and I haven't even heard from the others. So, I came here to ask around for some more authors. The websites functions held the emphasis (the website is not fancy) and were merely an exercise to increase my knowledge of PHP and MYSQL. However, I wouldn't like it if my efforts went to waste.

I don't really have any stipulation on the content of your comic as the only page that's up right now is a little mature. Also, I had intentions to put ads on the website to try to pay for the service.

I'll handle all the username/password junk manually since I haven't built that in for lack of knowledge about and fear of bots (Am I paranoid?).

Well, I've been around quite awhile I've just never finished anything. My current project is reviving and revamping one of my older projects. I'm redoing most of the game, since, back when I wrote most of the programming to it I was using horrible coding practices and didn't understand lists.

Anyway, the game is about three factions. Two of which are Humans, and the third being aliens. The Humans are split into two teams that have all the same abilities and equipment.

The idea is that Humans hunt aliens for money and increase their skills while doing so. Humans may also improve their skills by fighting with the opposing team of Humans. At this point I'm still using the names for the two factions that I came up with when I was first making this game. The names for the factions are Saybrook (blue team) and Wateska (red team). Humans start with standard issue equipment which they can replace with better more useful/powerful guns, armor, and accessories. Humans get payed for the aliens that they kill (more money and experience for killing powerful aliens)

Aliens, will be slightly different. They only have one means of getting stronger. They have to consume things to get stronger. They won't be able to eat everything but the cave that they live in is a wonderful place for fungus to grow which serves as one of the main entres for the hungry buggers. Aliens play similar to the game EVO for the superNES--eat stuff, evolve, now you're stronger.

The game also sports a randomly generated cave, including cave-side teleporter rooms for each Human faction.

The graphics are somewhat lacking. Which means I'm going to start looking for some help for the game.

I have this friend, whose name is Andrew, but I'm sure that's irrelevant when it comes to the BYOND community so I will just call him Zagreus. Well, he wanted to show me his BYOND members page so I looked at it and thought "sweet, that's just peachy." In response, as a joke, I said "Now you should buy one for your good pal Vermolius." Moments later, to my surprise, he sends a message saying

Your BYOND Key Zagreus Gift Recipient Vermolius Date 3/28/07 Supplier BYOND Payment Method PayPal Balance Due $15.00 Order Status Waiting for PayPal payment.

Now my BYOND pager likes to tell me new stuff, hurray!
