Something tells me he isn't going to take someone whose only two notable accomplishments on byond is handling a transaction with Hulio-G terribly and making a naruto rip.
This isn't really the place to ask, but do you guys think that the following features/changes would make the game suitable for release: http://pastebin.com/5K906rR2
The tutorial will be redone as well. Players will spawn in their faction's village and the first few quests will teach them how to play.

28. "Players can only level up 3 times within ten minutes. Some players were teaming up and letting their friends kill level 20 Yokai after they had damaged them to level up a good 10 times."
Just have it so players that are 5-10 levels lower than the monster get alot less experience.
That is a horrible idea. What if a player who is a lower level worked really hard to kill a high level monster on their own, why should they be penalized?
What if you didn't gain any experience from killing a monster unless you did at least 51% of the damage to it? Although then you would need each monster to keep track of who did damage to it and how much they did so yeah...
The point is that they shouldn't be trying to kill something that high.if they are to be killing within their level range.
IE. kill a high level monster that took ten minutes, rewards 10,000 exp
Now in ten minutes said player can accumulate much more in that time span by killing mobs that gave say, 2,500 exp per kill. I think the choice I'd make would be quite obvious.
And they're not being penalized, Its just a way to prevent players from cheating the game. Most respectable Mmos do this by either having what i suggested or making the player unable to damaged anything significantly stronger than themselves.
Also you misread what WANO said,"Some players were teaming up and letting their friends kill level 20 Yokai after they had damaged them to level up a good 10 times."
Meaning they hardly did any work and had their high level friends do all the work. Overlooking things like these would ruin the game IMO.
First off, I didn't miss read anything. I was offering another point of view. If a player is a low level and wants to gain a lot of experience then killing a higher level monster is a good way to do it.
Secondly, is it the best way to go about doing this? No, like you said, they can kill mobs their own level faster, but that's not your choice that's their choice. It's their game play experience and if they want the challenge of fighting harder monsters for a lot of EXP as opposed to fighting lower level ones for little EXP, then that's their business. The point of playing a game is to have fun, and to challenge yourself.
Thirdly, if the issue has to do with other players lowering the mobs health so that the player with the finishing blow gets all the EXP then there are surely other ways to go about fixing this situation. Like someone suggested below, the person who does the most damage could receive the EXP or the EXP could even be shared between all the attacking players and split evenly since all have done some amount of work to kill the creature. This will allow players to work together without giving one player all of the EXP.
Fourthly, your suggestion would penalize the players from points 1 and 2 who wish to challenge themselves by giving them less EXP for doing more work, just because others have found a way to cheat. Because now, players from points 1 and 2 have to kill only low level monsters to gain the same amount of EXP as they would gain from killing a high level monster. The reward for the extra work would be taken away and that is a penalty.
The game is terribly unbalanced to begin with if you can kill a high level monster like that. If I'm level 5 and can take on a level 20 monster and win, something is wrong. That thing should one or two shot me. What's the point of fighting weak monsters for low EXP when I can just skip right to the high level monsters and basically power level my way through the game. That makes the low level content worthless.

In dark souls you could power through the game at a relatively low level and enter NG+ if you put in enough effort. Not many people chose to do so, but it was an option. It took a lot more effort than just leveling up alone and required more skill. A game in which you can beat high level monsters at low levels isn't necessarily unbalanced it may just be skill/intellect-based. Although then again in dark souls virtually every monster could 1-2 hit you at any level or at least are placed in such a way that they could rape you in a corner if you weren't careful. I recall dying to rats that I could easily take out with 1 hit because they had fast hitting combos and there was a gang of 5 of them and they inflicted poison. In that same area were some weak looking frogs that basically OHKO you with a smokescreen attack. I fell down a hole, saw the things and thought, man this'll be easy. Suddenly I was dead and inflicted with curse status which permanently cut my health in half until I purchased a very very expensive cure (what's worse was that I found out curse stacked and ended up with 1/4 my HP after another go at the toads) Sometimes it's brains and not brawn that matters.

You can't on your own. Right now it's programmed so that if you kill a monster you gain all of the exp, regardless of how much damage you did. So say you have a high level friend, you could ask him to damage the monster for you and then finish it off for huge exp gains.
I spoke to Nadrew and he said that the conversion from the current system to a more balanced one, where you gain exp based on your damage, shouldn't be too difficult. I'll definitely be going with this now that I know it's a realistic change.
I'm actually interested in creating this game in another engine, not out of a dislike for BYOND as the game would still be released on BYOND regardless, but just to see the differences. I have no idea where to start though... there are so many resources available.
One of the programmers that already has access to the source said that they'll ready the game for release. If for some reason that doesn't work out, either Nadrew or Oasiscircle will be my next choice if they're still interested by then.
