Catchup with passed time
While I still check up on BYOND very often, It has been 4 days since I have started playing with Unity3D. I joined an IRC Chat to seek some help with developing Unity3D since I was having trouble setting up the networking side of my game. It's very confusing and I am not the only one with trouble. There's countless others.

A surprising... event!
In 4 days, I was surprised I could answer some of the basic questions these people asked. I ended up messaging this one guy and we conversed for about two days (Not fully. If you're counting the actual elapsed time, it would have to be around 2 hours on IRC and 4 hours for this next part..). He asked if I knew how to set up some stuff in PHP and also do it in C#. So, I said yeah, sure. He was excited that I could help and offered to donate. I told him it was fine, I'd do it for free. But, he insisted, so.. I wasn't going to deny the $50.00 that he was willing to give me lol.

Struggles with giving aid
In turn, I spent 4 hours on Teamviewer devoted to helping fix and troubleshoot his problem. The difficulties were the fact that I had just started using C# Monday, I also just started using Unity3D Monday, along with MonoDevelop. Working through Teamviewer took a lot of time. Primarily because when he moved his mouse, I couldn't interact. He he typed, I couldn't type. So every now and then I had to ask him to just hold on for a bit.

What the requested job was
What he basically asked me to do was fairly simple since I had a little knowledge from BYOND and previously tinkering with PHP. All he wanted was to pass some data to his website so that it would create a file. I had to look up a few ways to pass the URL and data through, but I got it done. Not only that, he said he'll pay me for more work! It's like I finally got a job! :') And I'm almost 18.. December 8 is almost here.

Thank you

I really must thank him though for being generous to pay me. I've helped many people, but $50.00 is a lot to me. It says a lot.. doesn't it?

Off-topic in an off-topic post
As for what I've been doing programming-wise on BYOND. Nothing.

I haven't been able to update Shell Server primarily because of the fact that Ss4toby still is coding it and while there's the option that we can both code on it at the same time, I feel that it would get confusing if we don't converse on what updates we add to it. So, I haven't been really doing anything on BYOND, even though

I want to update really bad right now. However, the update to come is very much different from what is currently released. It's approximately 2 months work of on and off programming, while Ss4toby is also working and I can't touch the codes.

I slip a few maintenance updates and features to keep things moving. But not too much that I would forget to add them in the update.
Nice job! I tried to do unity3D but my laptop sometimes froze and it was way too advance for me i wish it had a forum like BYOND has that you can get the help you need in a second and the programming to be a little bit more simple. Congratz on the job
Too many people requesting help. Too little helpers fulfilling the requests. I asked a question pretty much 3 days ago pertaining the very network issue I was having trouble with. I get on the IRC, people literally do nothing but link me to sites that I've already read. Sites they haven't even read themselves. I've bumped the post on the forums as well about 20 times. Gave up on the 2nd day. 3rd day.. it was pretty much.. lost.

Sooo, I'm coding solo. But, I currently have 3 friends who are in to Unity3D. 1 of which is very proficient in it, and 2 of which are just starting like me. And guess what? They're not complete jerks!
Haha I mess around in Unity3D all the time :)
It's nice not being limited on what language you wish to use.
Like if I feel like JavaScript is efficient for something, I use it and other times I use C# or Java. Its nice.
Dale.. I'm telling you. Unity3D's Networking is bogus. It makes absolutely no sense to me. I can't get it working at all. I've been on this code for days.
I was just paid another $30.00 for my work today. o.o... I'm a lucky man. q_q... I'm going to cry. I've never gotten so much money in one week in all my life.
Haha you need help with Unity?? Just watch a few tutorials to get started. Honestly, unlike BYOND, there is no quick way in like a short cut and such haha you really need to learn the software. With BYOND, it was easy to just go hands-on like plug-and-play devices.
Oh, no. It's not like that. I'm perfectly fine. Haha! It's just.. this thing isn't working how it should. It states no errors.. I read all the documents.. But when I check the port at www.whatsmyip.org/port-scanner/ it doesn't seem to be open. Not only that, I can still open the port with DreamDaemon! And I sent some other people the game to help me test the networking part. Apparently, they can't connect.

Other than that, I think I'm moving pretty fast for just starting on Sunday!
Nice, good job haha. Best way to make money is to make a free to play facebook game in unity -.- so many people spend money on those ;p
Xirre , odesk.com ... thank me later, also I want 10% commission.
10% commission.. There's Google if I wanted something like this. Lol. I prefer to acquaint myself with my customers since this is a hobby. I don't have much fun if I can't communicate with the person. :3 But nice website, nonetheless.
Yeah, people throw work at you all the time if you show you're half decent at something... and you have an internet connection that lets you actually send and receive files =P
Lol. Yep. I offered the guy some hosting for his game. He said he may pay me for that too. :) Easy money.

Nadrew, why not take a request.. write the instructions in a text file on how to fulfill the request.. thoroughly.. and send it to them lol. I'm sure they'll pay. xD
It's not very often people pay you just to tell them how to do something, especially not in that way; if I could do the one-on-one IM stuff more reliably, maybe. But the real money is in actual work, but overall, people tend to shy away the moment 'dial-up' is mentioned.
Xirre, you can and will have to communicate with your clients on odesk.

And the beauty of odesk is that you can pick and choose your projects. Thus you can work as much or as little as you want.

Sounds hard.. Because then I have to LOOK for work.. I want the work to come to me and I just do what they ask. That's like when my mom asks me what I want for breakfast... I DON'T KNOW.. It's not that simple. :'(
