After about an hour passes of me not doing anything, I randomly disconnect from my Shell Server. I started a new project and it does the same thing. It seems like if there's not going on in the game that relates to you.. it wants to kick you. Why is this? Any way to stop it? Happens locally and publicly.
I have the same problem when i go to chat rooms it always seems to happen for some reason. Try to clear your cache.
Nothing is in my cache. I don't play any games. It happens on Ubuntu 12.04, 13.04, and 13.10 and Windows 8 and Windows Vista (Virtual Box for Vista). It's been this way since around v498 as well. Probably earlier.

When I used WINE 1.7.4 on Ubuntu 13.10 it didn't seem to do that though. And it's not a public network issue otherwise many clients would complain to me about it then I'd have to fix it.

I constantly type "." to check if I've been disconnected. The server stays up and nobody else disconnects. Any idea what's going on?
Because it still states that you are online even when you disconnect.

I suspect your issue is related to this feature request. I know several people who find themselves getting disconnected if they're inactive for a period of time.
That's exactly what I'm referring to. Does BYOND even use TCP? I know that when I forward my ports, my ports don't work unless I forward both TCP and UDP.
Yes, BYOND only uses TCP.
