They need to make spyware illeagel, if virus's are then spy/ad ware should be illeagel.

this is my record

Yeh, spyware gets horribly intrusive, there needs to be a law.

In th emeantime, i suggest disabling the activeX controls that often instal spyware from your browser.

I think mozilla doesent except active x. I have no clue how i got that much spyware.
I HAVE ADAWARE ALSO AND WHEN I FIRST GOT IT I ALMOST CRAPPED ALL OVER MY SELF IT FOUND OVER 3000 YES I SAID THOUSAND NOT A TYPO AFTER THAT MY COMPUTER WAS LIKE A CAR SPINING TIRES IT WAS SOOO FAST ALSO ONCE IT GOT SO BAD I HAD TO DUMP MY COMPUTER THAT PISSED ME OFF AND I THINK SPYWARE SHOULD BE SOOOOOOOOO ILLEAGLE :)
I ran Ad-aware on this HIGHLY-infected computer sometime last year. It came back finding 6,969 items. I told it to clean it up, and I walked away after waiting for a good 10 to 15 minutes for it to finish. I never returned to see if it did. I have yet to see any computer come close to matching that figure.

Isn't there already a law? I heard it on download.com and the news.
Because it has legal uses as well, such as Shareware, but the degree to which it's done now is insane, it was devised for broke programmers to make a few bucks to support their software with a few small banner or text ads, nothing like this. Most forms of harmful Spyware are on the chopping block, and companies that endorse it have been shut down recently. But you can't expect to stop seeing banner ads and the sort in programs, since it's perfectly legal.

I ran adaware on my friend's aunt's computer. Just over 21,000. I wish I saved a screen shot :-\
