Does SATA II (3.0) need the same PSU as SATA I?

Yes. The majority of SATA drives can also take the standard molex connectors that older drives use.

SATA II uses a different power connecter than the standard 4-pin molex. It's much thinner, it's typically black, and has 15 pins (they're tiny). You could get a power supply with these connectors, or you could just get 4-pin molex -> SATA II cord. They sell for pretty cheap, just check your neighborhood electronics store (I don't know if they have them at Radio Shack. They should have them at Fry's).

There are some SATA II drives that can accept both though, so you want to check that first before buying the converter cord.
