Poll: Good Idea?

Yes - Byond public could learn from this 90% (10)
No - People would rip the source even though it doesn't work!!! 9% (1)

Only members of can vote.

I was thinking of an idea that could be hosted possibly every weak or month that the byond staff could do.

A game called "Spot the error" what would be done is they would give complicated source code that would be unneeded in a game which would compile in DM but it doesn't work.

What you have to do is solve the code you can't ask questions on the forums to get help you have to solve it yourself. Yes I do know more advance DMers would do this easy but the right correct entries would go in a random hat to be pulled out and prizes could be anything like free membership extension it would be educational to those that would solve it.

Anyone want to host one as a test to see how it would work, I?d love to but I would make something to simple.
That's actually a pretty good idea
It's a good idea, but an alternate would be:

Games are entered by their owners into a drawing. One game is randomly chosen, and the game is hosted. It is featured somewhere where people would see it, and they join and play to try to find any errors possible. The owner is responsible for putting a mark down whenever someone reports a bug or error. At the end of one week, the owner reports the results and the key with the most reported errors gets a prize, which can be anything from a BYOND membership to GM on that game.

A good idea would be to write down bugs that people find so others can't repeat them.
Both ideas could co-exist.
It's generally not a good idea to teach by showing them something wrong.
But its to get them to solve it, if they begin to understand it they learn.

Yes, lets not learn from our mistakes. :P

why
Squeegy, rewarding people with "GM" is a bad idea.
