I think this guy is probably one of the most confusing characters in the game. Our odd little alchemist brandishes a number of strange techniques that I'd like to use this post to outline and discuss. To start, his main move is his primary. This throws a vial of poison on the ground which damages foes standing on it over time. Now here's the key trick to using the poison: The chemist moves faster while he's walking over it. This means that throwing poison constantly while you're running will actually make you move MUCH faster and allow you to compete in races. But that's not all that the poison does. If he throws his secondary - a bomb - at the green goo, it ignites and explodes in a violent and -very- rewarding fashion. This is the best way to kill other players. The chemist's melee also features decent knockback and 10 damage, but it is short in range and doesn't really make a large impact on the game other than when it is used to piggyback off of something like a ninja or rogue. His bombs have decent range, but are easily telegraphed, so use them carefully. One last trick the chemist can do is cancel his poison by pressing the melee key while the poison is thrown. This will make the poison land closer to the chemist, making movement more efficient. The technique is hard to master, however, and is just one of the many things that separates a newbie chemist from a pro.
The chemist has a lot of potential, but like the druid, doesn't see a lot of play due to his steep learning curve.

Bro you can't keep switching from alchemist to chemist, they are two different things. Alchemists were the dudes in search of the Philosopher's Stone, chemists are the guys that cook meth on Breaking Bad. Which one is it? |
