Okay Gents,im going to host a small contest.I'll need a GREAT Concept(idea) for BR's byakuya release.something that has never been seen before,none of that mouse clicking crap.

IcewarriorX-i really took a liking to the suggestion he gave,and it actually gave me a really neat idea for a more advance way to make byakuya's release depend more on skill,timing and tactics in order to be used to its full potential by the player but balanced enough to make combat fun and enjoyable for both the user and the target.

That's stupid Chris. Anybody will be able to rip the icons when it comes out anyways. It's all public domain when it comes out. You'd probably be bashed for using it, but it's easy to get it.

When the guy slashes, it looks like he's randomly shifting pixels all over the place. If this is because of the icon_state sizes, just make them bigger o.o
So, how many icons are you going to waste before you actually release a game.

slash states are still being polished so its still abit jumpy,there will be 2 zanjutsu styles,ken-do and ikkakus where he ultilizes his sheath in combination with his attacks.each with its pros and cons

I think the petals should more be flying around him and stuff, instead of just behind him. Also with his attacks, you should make it something like you can control 3 different parts of it at once, the right, the left, and the center. I haven't gathered up alot of idea with it yet, but I'm rackin' my brain.
His shikai shouldn't really have pedals gathering behind him. It should just be his sword, he raises it up, then that splits...the one you have is more like bankai material.

If you want an idea for how it works, I'll give you one.

You could make it when you release, he holds the sword up, and it does the little animation where it splits up into pedals. You can then control the pedals by having them follow your mouse (rather than the usual arrow keys in some games) (which eliminates your character movement. Following the mouse will make both you and your shikau able to move. You can also assign things for left/right click.

For example left click would send out another set of pedals to make your attack larger at a reatsu cost.

For bankai (which looks like what this is in the picture.) Byakuya said in the anime that it would be better if he did it manually, which means they'd automatically go but if you wanted you could control another set with your mouse..and make it split paths with left/right click...when you split the path the original one would continue to go in the direction until it hits the screen edge and disappears, while the other is controlled by your mouse.
all entries sound good so far again im encouraging people to 'think outside the box'.Icewarrior's entry acutally gave me a really neat idea.

Guy needs hair, clothes, and less gas. Other than that the graphics look good, although personally I'd like to see the guy's shadow extended northeast like everything else's.

Some of the slash marks seem like they're going the wrong direction, too.
stay on topic please,the game is in early alpha stages,i wont make overlays on an unfinished base a few exceptions.
You control the senbon streams with the WASD keys and carry on to move your character with the arrow keys, when using your hand to control it at least. Otherwise you should perhaps slash and then a senbon stream follows your slash and if a targetting system is involved it could bend slightly towards the target :]

Edit - Senbon should also stay as a sword form in shikai, untill released into bankai where it should blanket the user in my opinion :]
If the user is going to remain frozen while in Shikai/Bankai form, I would say something like in Bleach Las Noches where you train on the wooden dummy's, and it randomizes which side of the post/dummy to hit. Make something like that, then attatch hotkeys to each side.

For example; In front on the playerbase would be block ( people can use a certain hot key, then an animation of him swiping his sword upwards will make a wall of petals for his defense.

Left and Right attack will be like another hotkey(s). but you have to left or right click with your mouse buttons or some form of bindings to set off the sword animation to make the petals launch.

Only con I would say is that, the attack animation is slow-ish, so players still have a chance of getting in quick to get some hits in, to prevent overpowerness in his shikai, Delay his movements to send off the petals by 3-6 seconds, that way other players have a chance to hit him.

Make the player who uses Byakuya's Shikai/Bankai think more carefully and plan ahead on how to set up his attacks :D.
Byakuya

Byakuya is a very serious person; so his attack should represent him.
Unlike most soul-reaper shaikai releases his own are pink petals. (Blossoms)


Byakuya’s shikai release

1.)

The first thing is to animate the release of his senbonzakura. The hand in which your holding the sword should move towards the face of the character that is using it. Their sword will spread out left to right from top of the sword to the bottom; it must not pass the Tsuka (handle) or habaki (collar of the blade) of the sword. It should look like petals separating from the metal part of sword on the handle. (Remember it a lot of petals), but so much that you can’t see the background of the world.




2.) Next the petals should circle the character in clockwise or counter clockwise directions. The petals will rotate around the characters waist so it looks like def and attack.









Pro- the players who are using the senbonzakura can’t be hit until the release is completed. (About 10-15 seconds)

The attack will follow the foes or enemies in any direction. Also the enemies have a zero chance of escape. The reason of this though is to keep the foe in a certain contained area. While the foe is trying to exit on foot or flash step or sado the petals will move to that area where the foe is. This builds up suspense for your opponent as they try to counter or dodge the blossom petals. (If auto control is not working / manual key should work) , just use the number keys for control choice to which between streams of petals that follows the foe. Then use the arrow keys to follow the foe. (Remember the petals has to move a bit faster that your opponents to key them on their guard. It can also act has shield for the user. Which player has a chance to broke through at times.



Con- The user of the senbon can’t move from that spot he/she used their shikai.
It grains their energy (Reiryoku) to about half. After the petals have disappeared because low energy the player shaikai returns back to the sword. The user will now
Be vulnerable for a critical attack.
