Can some of the pixel gurus give me some pointers on how to improve this animation or a better way to do it completely? Thanks!
I often find animations to be way easier by scrapping all detail, and working with whole colors. I made a example to show what im talking about, and a example of a run and walk cycle for you here :)

Animations were planned at a frame delay of about 2.

I have two major comments about walking and running states..

1) Make sure you have the opposite arm in match with the opposite foot.
2) The difference between walking and running states is in how big the jump from one state to the next is. The running state will have a larger gap in-between each body part compared to the running.

I hope this helps! ;)

I pretty much do the same thing as Reeex when it comes down to animating, only animate basic shapes and fill in the details afterwards.

It usually helps if you try more frames with this stuff as well.

Avoid flipping your frames to fill in half of the animation.
