...and probably write in complete sentences.

I recently discovered this little gem in the 'waiting for acceptance into the guild' section of this blog:

"BOSStman-1:
Hey i am not applying but i just want to ask if yall will host my bleach game called Bleach by Bobbyawesome and me his hub"

Short answer: No.

Long answer: Had you bothered to take the time to actually read the recent posts in this guild/blog, or made any minor attempt at research into the services here, you would have answered your own sentence.
Harsh.
yet true.

"The truth hurts", that is so true.

Does that still make it hurt?
yes it does. and it should. hard.

The harshest part of this is that you mentioned his name, you could've hid it and made it less painful you know, you're only hurting the BYOND community.
How unfortunate for you that you get your jollies from attempting to demean and humiliate someone like this.

Agreed :/

I fully disagree. This is online social Darwinism at work here.

So all the ignorant people will die(leave) and all the people who actually bother with punctuation and spelling survive?

The problem wasn't his lack of spelling ability, it was the fact that he asked for a game host in a guild submission post, which is clearly not the correct place to be doing so.
Some people need the stupid smacked out of them, and if public ridicule is the necessary tool, then so be it...

However, one needs to keep in mind that there are two kinds of stupid people... There are those that are stupid of their own volition, and there are those that are just genuinely not bright, through no fault of their own...

While the former is fair game, the latter is not...

Stupid-on-purpose (whether by an actual conscious decision, or even by the simple act of not putting forth the effort to not be dumb) needs to be dealt with harshly... While on the other hand, forms of lesser intelligence that arise from circumstances outside of the individual's control need to be treated with patience and tolerance...

The problem is that (especially over the internet) it is often difficult to tell which is which without much more evidence than one (potentially innocent) mistake...

So, while I agree with digi's brand of justice, I'm unsure of the timing of his trigger finger...

Even the lesser intelligent realise sometime or another what they've done wrong, and actually, there is no such thing as being not very bright. Everyone has the potential unless they're disabled in some sort of manner, but anyway, everyone has the potential to learn just as well, it's the effort put in that counts, and you can't really be that stupid if you got onto the internet...
There is absolutely nothing wrong with pointing out the short comings of others. As long as their short comings aren't a medical problem.
Reminds me of all the nitwits that keep submitting their anime games to the guilds that explicitly say "NO ANIME GAMES!!!".

Hey, it worked on me, Mobius and a fair few others I know.

If you don't get the stupid smacked out of you by prominent members of the community, you're just going to think your actions are acceptable and continue to do so.

a lack of effort or obvious laziness should be attacked with a zest!

i don't get my 'jollies' at all. it is in fact a sad state that many people on the net just don't read instructions, or do a little research to save time and effort, or just don't pay attention! this person clearly didn't read the *last post* about digitalBYOND dying off - right on the front page (at the time).

and it wasn't an attempt - i set out to do it to hopefully make it clear that they need to do a little work first, to get a better result later.

and Silk, you should know better to try and call me on it, when you have a bit of a history of demeaning and humiliating people too. "the pot calling the kettle black" should never be in your bag of snappy comebacks.

naw... responding to general laziness or lack of effort - which is really the issue here - should never be delayed.

probably my only real mistake is that i should have posted this on my personal blog, instead of this one.

would be neat to have a 'move post between blogs' feature.

i considered that for 0.04 seconds, but realized that peer lashing has it's place, and lets me get back to more important things. in this case, cycling the last 500km home: http://thedigitalmouse.blogspot.com (shameless plug)

If your goal was to correct or help the person, you would have sent a private reply. Instead you ridiculed this individual publicly, because you get some sort of strange pleasure (or self-esteem boost) out of doing so. It's not like this is a new thing for you; you have been making these kinds of blog posts for awhile.

Actually, I don't. I never single out individual users in my blog posts, nor do I ever get into it with someone unless they start slinging mud at me first. Even when that happens, I usually end up ignoring them and forgetting that they even exist. I have no need to make myself feel like a big man by trying to humiliate them.

I receive stupid emails from people constantly, both in relation to my BYOND endeavors and my YouTube videos. I either give these types of people a simple one-sentence reply, or I ignore them.

You, on the other hand, enjoy making a spectacle of these people. I think that in doing so you are merely making a spectacle of you own shortcomings and insecurities.
