Relax, no questions (yet ;-P)

Just wanted to say hi and give everyone a heads up that there's a new newb in town. Fortunately (or unfortunately?) I have done programming before and can for the most part follow any set of code set down in front of me and learn by it, so it's likely any questions I post will be of the hair-pulling kind.

Anyway, enough babble, on to code my master piece 10x10 map RPG, lol

Hurray! Welcome to BYOND, man! I can tell you'll be good at this. You haven't shortened "you" by writing "u" yet, or shortening please by saying "plz" yet! I am excited.

I suggest you read the Guide, FAQ, and Reference before doing anything! I hate repeating the same advice over and over, but they do a better job at explaining things than me!

Hehe. I remember my first 10x10 RPG. One day, I changed the map to 20x20 (Holy cow!), and it somehow flipped the game on it's back, then spat on it's bare stomach! Weird! Stupid me and my unhealthy coding.

Good luck.

To infinity, and BYOND!*

*My new welcoming phrase. Hee.

byond is easy
byond is good
byond is great
byond rules!

Lets face it, with NO programming experience, you can get the basics of this system in less than a month. Instant internet capabilities at the touch of nothing, as soon as you click new environment, its already internet capable!!!!

That is why byond is going to be the leading system of making games when its publicly advertised. When i first came here and heard someone say that, i laughed. Now im singing a totally different tune, Byond is VERY much advanced in what it can do, and its SIMPLE!!

Welcome to byond, dont ask questions until you look up the answers your self, PLEASE, and the FAQ is your FRIEND!!

My first map was 80x80 of nothingness but It was soon filled with usless rooms.

Heh, already went through the ZBT tutorial and read over the FAQ (learning savefiles right now). I'm just generally eating up any public code out there and picking it apart to see how it works =P Thanks for the advice though

Hmmm, sounds like a programming SNAFU (if you dont know what this means, don't ask. You MUST be too young =P). Gotta love those, especially when it seems there's absolutely no reason for the code to go haywire at all.

Thanks for the welcome, here's hoping I make a decent addition to an already (apparently) wonderful community

Hey, that's my line. =)

Hey, a 10x10 text game RPG could be quite large, if it was decently made...

Heh. Unless you're making a DBZ game, in which case the odds are pretty good you'll never have a prayer of figuring anything out.
