BYOND Tabletop Gaming is a virtual tabletop that brings traditional pencil and paper roleplaying games into an online environment. BYOND Tabletop Gaming lets you get together and play when your friends are too far away to game in person.

BYOND Tabletop Gaming provides a secure chatroom, powerful dice features, and shared virtual sheets. You only need to supply the game rules for your favorite face to face RPG, the game master, and some players.

Features

Customize and share sheets

  • BTG lets you build custom sheets (for characters or other data) and save them locally on your computer. The same sheet may then be loaded on a different server.
  • Sheets may be locked so that only the owner and gamemaster may edit and/or view that sheet or specific sheet fields.
  • Sheets are shared in real time. Any modifications you make to a sheet are instantly updated on the display of all other players with that sheet open.
  • BTG sheets support Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) features available to Microsoft Internet Explorer.

Powerful Die Rolling

  • Multiple ways to enter die rolls: Command line text, a popup die roller window, or single click preset dice macros in your BTG sheets.
  • Includes Special die rolling features for more specialized game systems: Target numbers, subtract the lowest die roll, reroll if a die is the maximum, and more

Colorful chat

  • Players may change their chat name and text color easily
  • Create quick aliases for switching rapidly chat name, icon, and color on the fly.
  • Emoticons ( =) ;) :-P et al) in chat text coverted to smiley icons thanks to Spuzzum's s_smiley library.
  • Create any number of chat groups for private messages.
  • Send images, web links, or pre-scripted text to specific chat groups.

Security

  • Optional password protection for each game server.
  • Host and GM may mute, boot, or ban any player.
  • Host and GM may view the BYOND key and IP address of each player.
  • GM may assign chat names and text colors, and prevent abusive players from altering their chat name or color.
  • Automatic mute if a player spams the game.

Maps for Miniatures

  • Move icons/images around the play area just like miniatures on your tabletop.

Latest Update

Version 16: 09-18-07
Bug fixes
  • The Kill command no longer leaves blank spaces in the players list.
  • Icon fields based on the same icon in different states display properly now.
  • You can now close Sheet Panels named "Players" and "Dice".
  • The "May use HTML" flag in player settings works now.

Important:

There are no hardcoded Game Masters in BYOND Tabletop Gaming. Not even Shadowdarke has special powers or priveledges when on someone else's server. If someone claims that they are a special GM and does something they should not be able to do, then they are abusing a bug and you should report it in the BTG forum so that it can be fixed promptly.
I demand the return of Shadowdarke to this project. :(

It has been a terribly long time since I updated BTG. I just don't have a lot of time to give to BYOND these days, and the ones that I do are devoted to Darke Dungeon, which is far far overdue for release.

To be honest, the only things that need improved are the Who, the dice roller, and that Face Icon Memeory Leak theory. I'll list all the issues I can name on the forum.

You said the SAME EXACT THING LAST TIME! *beats with a newspaper* And that was what, a year ago? All I want really is fixes, nothing new. :(
You know... I think BTG has really become a dead project. It's been what, 3-4 years since the last update? I think the 'miniature map' thing is broken for the most part as well. Oh well, here's to hoping Shadowdarke stops forgetting about us eh?
I'm creating an update to BTG which Shadowdarke may or may not integrate later if/when he returns and wants to work on BTG once more. View the forums for more info.
Great system, great community!
This is a great system with a great community of roleplayers

Honestly it's outdated, but with what programs exist now anything can be made to work in BTG
First this comments section was used for things about the game itself, now its used for player grievances against other players. I think there is some thing called Forum for that, but I'm not so sure.

Maybe I'm wrong. :3

We call that, lacking an active developer to keep us busy with other things.

P.S. Several computer problems bombed my VTS project. :(
BYOND v493 has some fixes related to the cache and a client problem. Due to this, our old problem of suddenly losing images may no longer be a problem, but it'd help if you guys can help test this out. (When it's released)

It really could just be inefficient javascript, but it'd be nice to prove it one way or the other.
Happy holidays to all my old BTG friends! Think of you guys often, hope life has taken you all to neat places :)
Hit me up at [email protected] if you wanna ever catch up. Also! Since this doesn't work on modern byond, a way to run it haha.
Hello All. Been a long time, but I miss you all though. Yall hit me on Discord if ya want.

Hello, is this thing on? Anyone remember me? Used to love RPing with you guys. Hope some of you enjoyed my creations. E-mail me sometime! [email protected]
Oh wow, this really doesn't work with current Dream Daemon, and seeing how it was practically abandoned in its heyday...
Shame, all those campaigns lost, like tears in the rain.
THis tool was legendary.

Agreed. I wanted to use TextMudPuddle as a backup but couldn't :(
