None tested worked as far back as the beginning of the 500's.
Workarounds:
If the browser is set to default on IE, Firefox and Chrome and other browsers it works fine, but if I set it to "Project Spartan" which is a windows store app and always will be even, then it fails.

Every other app works fine even with Spartan as the default browser, even 5 and 10 year old apps, as well as in cmd I type in "start URL/FILE" and it launches just fine in the browser, but BYOND isn't doing that.
Spartan is way too new, so this could frankly be a bug in Spartan. The way BYOND launches external URLs ought to be sound.

Nevertheless it looks like there's another method that can be used to launch URLs, so I can look into that.
