Most of my time this week has been put towards making GetFlatIcon() a reality, only I'm not calling it that. This has two forms, one of which will be a new proc called client.RenderIcon(), and another being support for the browser control to use an appearance directly as an <img> tag's src. (Actually I need to handle this for the output control too, come to think of it, but the ground work is there.) This is already implemented in the browser control, and while I was at it I made an improvement to the way the control handles resource requests.

Right now I'm working on the proc version, which involves the server sending a request to the client and the client sending something back. I'm still trying to determine if the client should use the normal file upload mechanism for this, which would make a lot of sense, or if there should be some other approach. The client also has to do a whole mess of callback handling so it can delay the rendering if it needs to request any resources it's still waiting for, so this is a bit complex. But it's been fun to work on regardless, and boy am I glad to finally be getting to it.

Yesterday was a bit of a lost day because I was feeling somewhat under the weather, though, so that did cut into development time a bit.

I have some bug reports on my plate to look at. A couple of them are relatively small ones I haven't gotten to yet, although at least one of them promises to be annoying. There's also another case I'm trying to investigate where I can't tell yet if there's a bug in play or not. On top of that I have a small feature request for 514 to throw in, so I'm definitely looking to get another maintenance release out soonish: preferably next week.

To everyone who's helped support BYOND lately through Membership and the other donation channels, my sincere thanks. This was a rough month at home, but I'm grateful for all your support and always working to keep bringing you new features.

The night of candy is nigh, so strap in and get ready for the onslaught. If you have dogs, now's a good time to invest in some earmuffs: for them or you, or both. In the meantime binge some Halloween movies while you can, because winter is coming and Christmas is coming with it. Lowe's already has trees on display; it's inevitable.
