Issue hasn't been assigned a status value.
This is more of a large ask I know, technical writing is hard, and putting code on paper, from experience, is a real headache.

That said, the current state of the SIDE_MAP map format's documentation is really kinda horrible.

It does not explain many of the nuances of how sorting works, or even what goes into the process. I don't think bounds effecting visual size is mentioned anywhere in the reference. It basically just points at ISOMETRIC and TOPDOWN and goes "yeah it's that but different"

Genuinely just condensing the concepts of visual and physical bounds down would do wonders, alongside maybe a more exact callout of what pixel_z and w do, though I understand that duplicating information kinda sucks.
