I was in bed tonight enjoying my slumber when I was awoken with the urge to play Street Fighter 3: Third Strike on an actual arcade cabinet.

This is not an unusual thing, as I am obsessed with this game to no end, but lately I have been considering making a MAME cabinet from scratch to accomplish my dream.

Basically, what a MAME cab is, is a home-made arcade cabinet built to house a computer, using an arcade screen/computer monitor/TV as a monitor. This computer runs the MAME emulator (an arcade emulator) and is hidden within a drawer or a cubby hole of the arcade cabinet, and you work out your own wiring system for arcade controls (arcade stick, buttons, trackball, etc).

I've been kind of going over some ideas in my head as to what I will do to build my MAME cabinet and what kind of PC I'll have -- the CPS3 boards, the ones used to develop the SF3 series -- have only been figured out within the last week and a pretty intensive computer is needed to handle it.

At any rate, the reason I bring this to you guys: I woke up at 6am and was met with this undying urge to play SF3, but instead of booting up my Dreamcast I decided to start actually looking into MAME cabinets seriously.

What did I find but this:

Looks like our logo is a little more popular than we thought!

Anyway here's some more MAME cabinets that I dig:

When I finally get mine going, I'm going to pull no expense: a nice monitor, an expensive sound system, a killer computer.

God, I'm stoked. Will keep you guys up to date!
Dude...I wonder if they admit using BYOND's design there? That's pretty awesome that someone liked it enough to make their own version of it.

Some friends and I have been looking into making our own gaming cabinet for a while.
Looks simple enough. I don't know where I'd get those buttons around here, I suppose I could order them online. I do have an old USB PC controller I could butcher for the process.
Well, Mr. Deep Pockets, while you're sparing no expense, mind sparing some for a pretty donation to me? =)
Tom might have started it.
