I'd have to say no. I use Photoshop at my work, and for personal use since 7.0. Photoshop isn't meant for pixel art. It's like using a grenade to blow out an ant hole. (too much power - more then you'll ever need).

Only thing going for it would be layers but for a fact I know there are a few other programs like paint but with layers that serve way better. It's a nice tutorial and all - but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone for pixel art.

I wouldnt say its like using a grenade to blow up an ant hole, more a range of weapons in your inventory to get the job done.

Pixeling in photoshop doesnt just mean use layers and a pencil tool.

I use Photoshop for pixel art and more. When it comes to Pixel art, it's more like taking a Ferrari to go around the corner to the store. It definitely doesn't HURT at all, but you don't NEED Photoshop for pixel art. But if you do happen to have Photoshop, why would you use anything else anyway? It is meant for digital art, so it's got all the tools you need and more.

Definitely no reason to go and buy Photoshop just for pixel art though.

It is possible, but that's what I meant. It's too much, and if you ask me it uses more resources/space then a smaller program would. (talking only pixel art related anyways, unless you have some high definition pixel art and effects)

Gimp was pointed out to me by Zenigwolf, and I seem to like that better then Photoshop for my pixel art. But again, personal pref.
