So earlier today the idea of a Hazordhu RTS was mentioned on the server. This intrigued me and got me to thinking about it. It would be simple enough to do. Build a few buildings, which would make certain technologies, which would allow for certain units to be produced, which would advance you towards victory over your opponent(s) be it economic, diplomatic, technological, or military.
So far if I did go through with this idea... There would be 4 races: Human, Orc, Elf, and Undead. The game would take place prior to the 400 years war (see History of Hazordhu), and would be round based. Players would start with a handful of units, maybe two gatherers and a builder, and enough resources to establish their home.
From the home, players can make more builders and gatherers and build more buildings, like a training grounds, armory, blacksmith, stables, farms, tannery, market, etc. etc. And would work towards meeting the goal of the round; be it Economic, Military, or what have you. The first player to meet the victory conditions would be the winner.

Well of course I'll be working on Hazordhu II the same as always, but there are times where I want a break from it and find myself craving something to work on. I dunno, just a thought.

Not bad idea but i would suggest give only one unit to players. And make some way like mating or something like that to build. Some people like me is fine whit one char too :)

One question, is your concept for the RTS or a TBS (Turn Based Strategy) because you mentioned somthing about rounds.

so how would rounds fit in then? An RTS takes place in Real Time. It's basically the same as a TBS, only you don't take turns; thus making it faster paced. I think you're confusing 'rounds' and 'turns' here. In one round, there is a winner. In a TBS, one round consists of players taking turns until one wins. |
