You should try working with the render as well, not just the background. Looks really empty.

Background: Gradient, with vector and splatter brushes.
Render: Guassian Blurred layer over the render, with either overlay or soft mix or whatever.

I suggest making the background smaller, unless it's necessary to be that big. If so, learn how to use C4D and play around with the tools. Maybe add some brushes.
