Downgrading?

My Mom has a windows vista labtop and it is really slow because it uses a lot of RAM. If I downgrade the computer to XP SP3 would the programs in it still work?

I'll just search how on google...

You can't downgrade without reformatting. I would just upgrade to windows 7.

Best thing to do is Upgrade. I have 2gb ram and it runs fine on windows 7
