I doubt it means it literally, it has been a tradition I guess to have an easter egg hunt for little kids and the get things like money, candy, ect...

The prize was a signed autograph from Dan and the location where he is tied up. Also, there was a piece of his hair attached to it with some bloodstains on the photo. They probably forced him to sign it by beating him which would explain the bloodstains.
